      As read in today's Los Angeles Times (10-3-02)...

      Mike Dietrich, the U.S. Forest Service fire chief in the San Bernardino forest, said the areas of Big Bear, Lake Arrowhead, and the San Gorgonio Pass before spilling into the desert, will be closed. Hiking, horseback riding and off-road vehicle use will be prohibited. The close will take place at noon - Friday.

      Check with the San Bernardino Forestry Personnel about this 'temporary' land closure. THis has to do with Fire Season affecting the forest, and the forest should be reopened once snow season hits...
