Hey guys. I need your advice on a triple sub enclosure. Just bought a custom box on Ebay that looks like it doesn't have separate chambers. I was wondering if I could still hook it up with 2 amps in a stereo/mono setup. I plan to use a Rockford Fosgate 1050S and 550 to give each 12" roughly about 500watts of power. You guys think it'll work?

Answer these first:

1) What are the space requirements for the subs?

2) What is the total internal volume of the box?

3) How much wattage (RMS) can each sub handel?

4) How much wattage (RMS) can each amp put out?

Answer those and maybe we can help you.

1. Each RFP3212 handles 400w RMS/800w Max. Each needs 0.9-2.79 cubic feet of space
2. 1050S puts out 525wX2 @ 2ohms(stereo)
3. 550 puts out 550wX1 @ 4ohms(mono)
4. Box has a total internal volume of 3.6cubic feet

That gives each sub 1.2cubic feet each. What I'm concerned about is running 2 different amps(stereo/mono) in a box without separate compartments.

if they share the same airspace then they need to be the same channel (mono). if not, you will get cancellation. possibly damage the subs.

I guess I can run the third sub in stereo mode too since it has dual voice coils.
