I am asking for some input on a 2007 explorer with 144,000 miles. The transmission has issues and slips. It has the signs of the dreaded servo defect but there is also a whining that sound like a power steering pump when motor is running. I suspect that problem is the torque converter and a rebuilt may be needed. The body needs a passenger side dog leg and the rockers are starting to rot. The interior is mint. The owner is the original and he kept the truck well maintained. There is no timing chain rapping on startup and motor sounds healthy. There was no smoke or milky oil on dip stick. The owner wants 900 because he just bought a new car and his wife wants it gone. I was going to offer 500.00 but I just wanted some input on whether its worth fixing by myself. Thoughts?

Thanks

At that price you could flip it and pocket some change. Even if it’s a 4.0.

Also, you should post his in the 4th gen section.
