Hi, I want to give a solution I found for the error P0351:
SYMPTOMS: I had no spark from the coil to the spark plug in the cylinders #1 and #5. PLEASE VERIFY THE NUMBER OF THE CYLINDERS. With the engine running check for the spark.
The coil connector has 4 yellow wires. For the cylinder 1 and 5 the problem is with the yellow wire with a black stripe. FIND AND FOLLOW this cable. In the PCM connector you can find the same wire (yellow with black stripe). Check that this wire gets connected to the PCM correctly.
This procedure fixed my problem and the engine is now running perfectly.
TIP: FOR THE OTHER CYLINDERS THE COLOR OF THE WIRES ARE:
YELLOW W/ WHITE STRIPE
YELLOW W/ RED STRIPE
I hope this could be useful for other explorer/ranger owners. This could be applied to the 96/2000 4.0 explorer.
