      Hello,

Help! I recently purchased a used Polar Bear Grille Guard for my '97 XLT. I need installation instructions and/or photos/diagrams. Anyone have contact info for Polar Bear? Do I have to cut up/out the molded plastic piece under the bumper?

      Thanks,
      Anthony A

no, if it came with the mounting brackets, mount them on the frame, where it looks like they should go, then have some hold the grille up while you mount it to the brackets, should take 10-15 mins, tops.... if you have the brackets

      cutting the valance

This from the fellow I purchased from...

      Anthony,

I did have to cut the valance. Unfortunately I had someone else do it for me, so I don't know what they did. All I know is that I didn't need any of the extra brackets or anything. It just bolted underneath. As for the instructions, I have no clue. The installer never gave them back to me. This is supposed to bolt directly to your frame, so that's all I know. I'd go to your local aftermarket dealer in the area. They should have the contact info for Polar Bear. Take care.

      Drew

(I wonder if the valance/trim is different on the XLT vs LTD?)

it is... i had to cut my LTD, and ive got a Manik... but all the grille guards are the same... i thought... ok, if it bolts up to the frame, try to get someone to hold it up for you, while you crawl under and see how it mounts up.... you really shouldnt have to cut anything on an XLT... it should just go through the grey valence that would house the foglights, the one below your radiator, tell us what it looks like
