q's about a tranny

my transmission is messed up. it only catches park. when in neutral it wants to go forwards. when i put in in reverse, the reverse lights come on but it doesnt go anywhere. im thinking it could be a broken seal, but im not sure. let me know what u think. thanx

Whoa! Something is seriously messed up there. When in neutral, does it actually go forward, and shift normally?

Something might be wrong with the linkage from the column shifter to the actual tranny.

The "neutral possistion might actually be drive. Try slowly pulling it all the way into 1,and count how many different spots it goes into.

it doesnt go thru all 4 gears. it just idles forward. at idle speed.
