Has anyone used a Whistler 1765, I've done some research and the independents rate it fairly well. Just wondering what your experiences are?

No experience with Whistler... but... look into Passport 8500, I heard they're a bit pricey but worth the price.

Whatever you do stay away from Cobras. The price drew me in but what a piece of crap it was.

I have a Whistler 1665, and it works just great. I had my doubts at first considering I got it on yahoo auctions for $35 shipped. I really trust this radar detector. It has never let me down when Im flying down the highway doing nearly 110 (maybe I trust it too much). They do get allittle anoying though considering that It goes off whenever you go by grocery stores or banks or anyplace with a security system or automatic doors.

      Thanks for the input:

Those are both good brands but too pricey for me. The whitslers are about 1/5 the price and according to the reports/tests i've found the current whistlers have similar ratings (a little less on line of site but same or better on the curve tests - which is how they seem to try and trap you here).

i have the passport 8500 and i love it. considering it was $300 but still i think it is defiently worth it from the tickets it has saved me. my friend has the valentine1 and the only real difference that i saw was that the valentine 1 picked up the radar a little in advance. basically depends on the funds u have available. if i were you, i would pay the extra money for a better one.

I had a Whistler and it wasn't that great. I've got a Passport 8500 and it really is the "World's Best Radar Detector".

Valentine One is the best one out there but the most costly also. I agree on the Cobra. They suck!

      I have a Whistler 1465
It was made about the same time as the invention of the automobile.
Works time and time again. Plenty of notice every time.
A fair amount of false alarms though.
I would rather have that than other wise !
