Hi Everyone. Didn't want to just disappear without explanation even though I haven't been around much lately.

I sold my Explorer yesterday to one of my coworkers. He is giving it to his son as a Christmas gift. My wife wanted to keep it but we have too many vehicles right now and I don't have the time to give it the care it needs. My coworker will take good care of it as he is an ASE certified auto tech.

I know that you all know this, but this is the best automotive forum on the internet. I have always believed that there isn't a problem that could not be fixed with the help of the great people on this forum.

Thanks again for all your help.

What did you replace it with?? At least you'll be able to keep an eye on the ol' Explorer this way.

See that motorhome in the photo above? I have wanted something to tow behind it pretty much since my wife decided to buy it back in 2008. The Explorer would really push the towing limits of the motorhome and the modifications (base plate, supplemental brake system, etc. ) would cost almost what the Explorer is worth. I found a J**p JK 2 door that was already set up to be towed behind a MH. It is about 400 lbs lighter than the Explorer and the manual transfer case makes it really easy to flat tow.

Also, I just wasn't driving the Explorer much, less than 1000 miles a year for the past few years.

Good Luck! We all leave eventually I guess. I have driven 2 Explorers for the past 24 years...I guess I need to get a life?

Don't worry I still get to see (and work on) Explorers (aka Police Interceptor Utility) every day at work.
