Stock roof rack?

Hello everyone, I have recently purchased a kayak and am looking on getting one for the wife. I have been researching roof racks for the kayaks from Yakima (most notably the Hullraiser Aero) and am wondering if the stock roof rack with the cross bars is going to hold up alright under highway speeds or should I get the entire system?

Yeah it works fine. My dad has one on his sport trac.

The stock rack will hold a significant amount of weight with the Yakima or Thule systems. I use a large Yakima basket on mine, and it holds the basket weight and a full size 33" spare wheel/tire combo just fine.

Thats good to hear. Thanks for all the comments. I purchased a Yakima Bowdown today after measuring it to make sure it would clear my garage door fine. The wife will be happy when the wet kayak is no longer in her explorer.
