Take 3 - 1999 Mercury Mountaineer

25!!!! While towing I would run those suckers up to 42 front 44-45 in the rear when you add a dual axle trailer ....................you can always go back down to 25 after the trip
I bet you would have seen a 1-2 mpg gain on that run

I know :( i should have checked that. I was more concerned/focused with how she was going to drive for the long trip as it was my first since buying it.

The Mountaineer has been running great. A quick update. The stock Synchro started squealing badly, CEL code hard flashed and the Gen2 got harder and harder to start. Long turn overs to start sometimes two to three turns on the key got it running. The synchro swap went without a hitch, thanks to the great information on this site. I feel privileged to be here and a part of the shared info available.

Next on the list of 'fixes' are changing the stock spark plugs that have gaps the size of the grand canyon....lol :snicker:

I just need to get the darn climate control system to work properly. I set it to 85, get warm, then back to cold. Might try the replacing the cabin sensor.

I used to have a 2000 Mountaineer Premier....I fixed that thing up so nice, it was hard to sell her
I love these trucks very much
Very nice find, 140K is just a baby

I've been looking for one of these forever. I cut one up that was exactly like this one for my ranger swap. It rusty and hit in the right front. Too beat up to save.
