This fell off my truck. Anyone know what it is?

This metal piece fell off from under my truck when driving down a bumpy road. There was no noticeable change in driving feel. The one end is rounded off while the other is jagged and looks damaged and rusty. Some sort of hanger or support? Anyone know what this is?
Truck is a 96 Ranger 4x4. Thanks!
