I stumbled on this while looking to add LSD to my '04 Sporttrac. Torsen® Traction
Torsen is clearing out left over inventory from when they supplied Ford with differentials for the FX4 Level II Rangers which were 31 spline.
They are cool because they do not rely on clutches for the LS action. Supposedly they never wear out or lose effectiveness.
I ordered one a few weeks ago and then installed it over the weekend, so far I like the results. I installed with new bearings, ring gear bolts, and axle seals at the same time. I had a shop press the ring gear on and off as well as press the new bearings to the Torsen. The backlash of the new setup is identical to the backlash of the old setup using the factory shims, just a hair past 11 thou.
edit:
If anyone is interested, Im selling my low-mile open diff: Ford 8.8 Differential 31 Spline Loaded Carrier *50K Miles* F150 Mustang Explorer | eBay
