Towing behind a Rental Truck?

Dear fellow Ford enthusiasts,

I have a '98 Mountaineer 5.0 AWD that needs to be towed from Texas to Colorado in a couple weeks. The plan is to rent a moving truck, with my Mountaineer on an auto transport trailer attached to the back of the rental truck.

Problem is, Uhaul is charging quite a bit for this setup. Tried Budget rental company, but for some strange reason they claim their equipment will tow a '98 Explorer, but will NOT tow a '98 Mountaineer.

Anyone have any advice on the Mountaineer-bias from these guys, or any advice on an affordable rental company that supports Mountaineers??

If you are pulling it with all 4 wheels on the trailer, tell them it's an explorer and go on with your life. They won't know the difference, because there isn't any except cosmetics.

Yes all 4 wheels on trailer. Thinking about finding the cheapest company, and depending on their views on Mountaineer/Explorer lying and telling them I'll be towing a ford Focus.
