Recently I had the transmission rebuilt in my 97 sohc. It has been running fine in general except today as i was coming up to a light i heard a strange popping noise and assumed it was some vehicle with glasspacks or something i could hear through the windows of the cab. When i went to accelerate again it just revved freely for about a half second and then slammed into gear accompanied by a loud grinding bark from under the vehicle. Also, a couple times on separate occasions right on startup i'll go to drive away and notice that the vehicle is in 4low. The light doesn't come on or anything. You can just obviously tell its in 4low. Starting it up again or flipping the switch around will get it back to regular awd. I'm just wondering if thats a tranny problem or a transmission problem.
