So what is the resolution these?

Can anyone have more info on this TSB
11-4-12
INSTRUMENT CLUSTER MESSAGE CENTER - INACCURATE AVERAGE FUEL ECONOMY AND FUEL TRIP COMPUTER, COOLANT TEMPERATURE DISPLAY INTERMITTENTLY FLICKERS ON/OFF

I have noticed that for some reason my trip computer has two issues. It never tells me that i can get more than 230-250 miles to a tank of gas, even if my fuel economy in in the 18-20 range. Also the fuel economy does strange things when at a standstill. Finally the trip computer registers three miles more than the actual mileage of the car.

swetrid,

Thanks for the list...

swetrid can you post anymore info on this one:

11-9-11
6F50/6F55 TRANSMISSION - SLUGGISH ACCELERATION FROM 0-8 KM\H (0-5 MPH) FOLLOWED BY A HARSH BUMP OR A SLIP ON TAKE-OFF FOLLOWED BY A BUMP - BUILT ON OR BEFORE 4/15/2011

I've experienced this 3 times in 4800 miles. It feels like I hit a brick wall for a split second and a loud boom. Scares the crap out of you. I thought I was rear-ended by another car going 100+ each time. I suspect it happens when the transmission is almost to the point of switching gears. Driving along at 30-40 in town, red light up ahead, take foot off pedal, cruising/slowing down, light goes green well before I get there, foot back on pedal and apply gentle pressure..... BOOM. It's rare but damn it sucks.

ACTION:
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

This valve body modification is only available for transmissions originally built with MERCON® LV listed on the dipstick.

There is a new calibration and transmission valve body change to correct this condition. The valve body change was to delete one hole in the valve body separator plate and remove one check ball from the valve body in the same area where the hole in the separator plate was deleted.

NOTE: IF THIS PROCEDURE IS NOT FOLLOWED CORRECTLY, ADDITIONAL NEW CUSTOMER SYMPTOMS WILL BE PRESENT, SUCH AS LOSS OF REVERSE OR 2-3 SHIFT FLARE.

For all model years except 2009, proceed to Step 2. For 2009 model year vehicles, verify the transmission dipstick has MERCON® LV listed on the dipstick.
Yes - The dipstick has MERCON® LV listed on the dipstick; proceed to Step 2.
No - The dipstick does not have MERCON® LV listed on the dipstick; this procedure does not apply. Follow normal Workshop Manual diagnostics.
Reprogram the PCM to the latest calibration using IDS release 73.04 and higher. This new calibration is not included in the VCM 2011.5 DVD. Calibration files may also be obtained at www.motorcraft.com.
Remove the transmission valve body. Refer to the Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 307-01.

Hey swetrid, Any chance you can post a new/updated TBS list?

TSB Sticky Time??

I think it would be very helpful to have a TSB sticky listing the TSB's that have been announced for the Explorer.
Questions keep coming up on various problems but answers with the TSB# are scattered throughout the threads.

Also, I didnt know there was a TSB for bubbly blackout tape on the front doors. One more thing to add to my list. Question, by what vehicle mileage do I need to have the dealer fix the non mechanical TSB issues by before they refuse to do it under warranty? Like the window streaks and such.

Not sure exactly, but I believe it is a 3 year 36,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty. Without reading the warranty particulars, I would assume this to include non-mechanical issues.

The powertrain warranty which covers the engine and transmission is a bit longer at 5 years 60k (I believe).

I asked my dealer about TSB's when I was having the random wipe issue fixed. They said that most TSB's are only done free of charge while the warranty is in place. A few, which he did not mention, may be done without cost after the warranty expires. Now that I think of it, I didn't specifically ask him if the extended warranty covers TSB's. Something to check into next visit.
