I was just wondering if Ford made a V8 Explorer that was 2wd??? I'm asking because I want to put an Explorer V8 in my Sport.

Yes, I believe there were 96-98 V8 Explorers available with 2wd.

      I could have had 2WD when I bought my '99 V8 AWD.

Heh...actually, Ford introduced the V8 in mid-'96 as a 2WD only. 4WD nor AWD were available. According to them, they couldn't find enough space to put the 4WD hardware in there. I guess they finally found space in '97 b/c that's when AWD was optional on the V8 models.
