I had a check engine light on, and turned off after finding the code. What I want to know is it has been saying erasing codes for 15 minutes at the time of this post. Is this unusual or what else could this be?

Codes should clear in a few seconds. I’d pull the battery cable if they don’t clear after restarting.

What kind of scanner? Around here we like to use FORScan documentation v1.3.x

If I remember correctly with our hand held OBD port scanner , I press the erase button until it it reads, Erase? Then release. Then I hold it down again until it reads, Done.
