I just wanted to start this thread to see what kind of mods the rest of you are working on. Maybe it could give some of us some ideas.

Right now i'm working on installing my on board air compressor and rigging up some small tanks. I also painted my wheels. I have some of the cheapo steel wheels that i have my mud tires on and i roughed them up last night and primed them and painted them gloss black. They didn't look right at all on my truck when they were gray and some people told me to paint them cause it would look better, so i did!

I'll get some pictures tonight of everything i am doing. If you can posts some pictures that would be cool too. Thanks.

      Happy trails!!

      Cory,

Did the 4 door wheelbase not suit your needs? What does the new wheelbase sit at with the rear forward 15"?

Here are my current projects, in this order:

      1. Install D35 TTB carrier, equipped with 4.10's and ARB, install ARB control relay, switch, and airline
      2. Convert AC compressor to on board air setup for ARB, tires, and tools with 2-5 gal tank (still researching)
      3. install Skyjacker 4" rear leafs (ditch my 3" block and ad a leafs)
      4. Fit Autofab 3" glass fenders (and paint)
      5. Mount 33x12.5 mudders on black mods
      6. Flare rear 1/4 panels to clear 33's and match front fenders
      7. Tap new thread on pass side tranny mount (aluminum tranny has slightly stripped threads, needs to be tapped and new bolt installed

      Thats about it for now!

      Winter projects:
      A. Custom center console with gage pod and cooler.
      B. Carpet kit
      C. New tailgate with beefed up tire carrier and lift up/removable glass, wiper and washer, and 3rd brake light (no defrost :( unless I can figure that out!)
      D. Start buildup of new OHV 4.0L

Next year she will be getting fresh body work and paint
Also Sunroof and removable side glass. :)

Stock wheel base for a 4-door is 111." When I built my rig, I pushed the front axle forward and the rear axle back so that my wheelbase is now 122". I want to be around 107" of wheelbase, so the rear axle will come forward 15" or so.

Heh I wish i could be doing some mods instead im fixing broken and worn things. Let's see here

      Did upper and lower Balljoints
      Need all new shocks
Something is messed up in either the T-case front drive shaft for front axle.
Bunch of stupid little things here and there.
The things i have planned for the immeadiate future as soon as i have the 4wheel drive fixed are as follows
Get front axle and rear gears (coutesy Lizardtrac :))
      Get rims for my 33s
      get a body lift
build bumpers once i get some decent C-channel
      Install or build the above.

Convert AC compressor to air compressor so I can fill my custom bumper/air tank.

Install Detroit EZ Locker that I bought from a very nice gentleman on this site.

Good Lord, i never thought i would have this kind of a response. Sounds like some cool plans. How hard is it to convert the AC compressor over? I've thought about that before, but i just opt for the little compressor.

Cory, are you ever happy!! haha

Jefe, where are going to mount the tray for the second battery?

Doug, sounds like you have your hands full buddy!

David, any luck on the skid plates yet?

Chris, that is pretty nice setup, have you pulled from it yet to see how tough it is?

Yomie, made it into the shop yet?

410, sounds like you have your hands full also, yours isn't a DD is it?

Ryan, your board name kind of goes the opposite way of your plans, that is funny, good luck!

Magic, what kind of an idea do you have for the exhaust?

Alto, yeah i hear you about the lazy part, there is always something to do or that you want to do!

      Happy trails!!

JoshC: I think I got it off of the Rockrangers.com web site. 410 sent me in the right direction if I remember right. Try a search, it doesn't sound very hard and hopefully I can run air tools (when I can afford to buy them).

Josh, yup I drive her everyday. She was down for 1 month for the 4.0L conversion about 3 years ago.
She was down for almost a week for the lift and axles
She has been down 3 times for two days for clutch work
and She was down fot 3 days when I converted her to an automatic. She was also in the Ford shop for 4 days once when I had a computer problem I couldnt diagnose.
Other then that I drive her every single day for the last 6 years, the frame and body have over 230K on them, but other then that she is a mean bit*h and aside from a 90K miles 93 4.0L pretty much all brand new and rebuilt, totally custom.

Here is a good place to hear about my complete write up on my baby/pictures:

Here is where you can learn about converting your A/C to on board air (it;s cheaper and better, only downside is engine must be running to re-fill the tank):

Updated write up and pics coming here when I become Elite, after I finish my current projects....

Josh i just got the skid plate that was made for me today and tonight i fit it and got the holes drilled so i could paint it. right now it is drying and i will put a second coat on it tomorrow and bolt it on the car thuresday or wed night if it is dry. as for the skid plate to cover the exaust, still working on that. that'll be this weekend i think sence i'll have nothing to do and all i need is some strong sheet metal for a suppier around here. just going to use it for easy cleaning and to keep the mud off that.

I'm working on getting my beast ready for some tougher trails. Some rear shocks are a DEFINITE must. I will also go with a manual TC before the next run too. Maybe in a year you'll see with me with an SAS project.
