I am getting ready to place an order for a few bolts from them and I am wondering if there are any other things I "need" that I am forgetting. I have found a few other things but I am still seeing what else before I put more order in.

I pretty much get most of my fasteners from them since I save quite a bit when buying bulk. So pretty much any bolt on your vehicle that you think you'll need to replace should probably be in that list. The only downside is that, as i recall, you wont know what the shipping/handling fee is until final shipping. But this fee is usually negligible especially when you order a ton of stuff.

Most of my suspension bolts came from there. It is easier to just order it and have it shipped to my house then to try and get to Fasenal or another bolt store between 8 and 5. Plus having a few extra grade 8 bolts laying around isn't a bad thing.

My thoughts exactly. I bought about $70 worth of bolts from the local hardware store one day and when I got home, I priced out the same items on McMaster and I realized that for not much more money, I can have a few extra bolts laying around for backup. So obviously, the next day I returned all of the bolts I bought locally.

I have a box of spare longer steering box bolts that I got from them:thumbsup: Factory ones were not long enough during the sas.

Also something I learned from zukman is to keep all extra bolts, nuts and washers. I have a 6-pack size box full of each in my garage ;)

I've been purchasing from McMaster Carr for YEARS. They are outstanding, and have the best website around.

I use them for large stainless bolts, especially when the Hillman drawers at Lowes don't have them. I've also used them for threaded rivets (for roll cages), elevator bolts, narrow blocks of aluminum for spacers, and other odds and ends that the locals don't have and Fastenal has too high of a quantity requirement.

And, as others have said, I usually buy double of what I need. It stocks the bolt drawers for future need, and the price makes it worth it as opposed to looking locally.

I just put an order in with them yesterday for some bolts, flange nuts for my Hummer beadlocks and some quick release pins for my Nato Gas Cans.

Other things I have got through them include the bearings and latch for my bumper, band saw blades, springs and a whole lot more through the years.

Matt, what about getting pins for your quick release fire ext. bracket?

Just ordered a couple of those for my mudflap mounts. I needed to redo them so I splurged and got the weldable spring loaded ones. Shipping is nice and quick since they are in Cali.

I got the cheapest/smallest ones they had, still a little big for what i'm doing but they'll work:

      Just bought some button-head 3/8" x 16 x 3/4" in black oxide.

Shopping McMaster Carr's web site is like being a kid in a candy store. If I can imagine it, they have it.
