I just got a new Explorer Sport and my insurance company (Liberty Mutual) is trying to rape me with the new policy. I need to find cheaper insurance ASAP.

What company are you insured with?

      Have any suggestions?

      Thanks for your help,

      Derek

I can say stay away from farmers if you have modified you suspension at all (lift or lower)...

There is a clause in their policies that states you cannot modify the suspension of the vehicle..

Geico has always been good to me. My wife rear-ended some guy in a rice burner with my 4 month old F-250 Crew Cab...his trunk is now his back seat. I needed a new license plate holder! They didn't raise our rates, of course we've been with them since '92.

I was with Geico for years and though all was fine, then one day I started checking other firms. I found a better policy with State Farm for $200/year less. Needless to sayI switched.

      Good luck.....

State Farm has been great for my family. Although I am only 17 and my insurance alone is $275+ a month they are always there to accomodate.

My policy will be $3200 a year with Liberty Mutual. I called progressive and they quoted me $2600 EVERY SIX MONTHS. Hmmmm, maybe mine isn't so high after all. Any other suggestions???

Guide One Specialty Mutual... Haha, one of those smaller noone type firms. However, they have been great. Both my brother and I have made claims (we had our "incidents" the same day, same type of "incident"... was it fate?) and the outcome was great. They handled everything well and no major hike in rates. Just call around to local companies/providers.

I have a piggy back policy with my parents at Allstate. They charge about $200 every six months for my truck. But that's with a lot of discounts such as multiple cars (4) and our home insurance policy is under them too so that's probably why our insurance is cheaper. Our total insurance for all four of our cars are about $1,100 every six months.

Indeed. Without a doubt the best company out there. The only problem is that in order to get it, you have to be in the military or be the dependent of someone who is/was. For instance, I have it because my grandfather was in the army, so my parents had it and now I have it. Still getting killed with premiums, but that's what happens when you're 22, not married and live in a high-risk area. Oh well, I'll just have to wait until 25 for my rates to go down, because I sure as hell am not getting married before then!

yep. i just turned 25 in july so mine dropped again. my wife turned 25 in sept so hers dropped. our payments are tiny now! with any other company we looked at, i would be paying for my one vehicle what we both pay with USAA combined. and we are considered to be in a high risk area since we drive in atlanta.

I am with USAA. They are by far the route to go if you can get them. Check out their web site to see if you can join.

you won't believe this, today I got this letter from Liberty Mutual saying my insurance was CANCELLED because they claim I withheld information when I signed up for the new policy. I told them about all my tickets and now they say I didn't. I have NO insurance now, and have no idea what I'm going to do. Damn I'm pissed
