Hamburger fried with dried onion flakes, salt, and pepper. That mixed with Van Camp's Pork & Beans, topped with Lay's potato chips.

My version of Mom's Welfare burgers and tater salad.

We called her burgers that, because she refused to buy burgers from a fast food joint, and made her own. She tried to make them fancy by adding diced bell peppers / onions, egg, and bread crumbs into the mix. "Can't get gourmet like this at no Mcdonald's", she would say. Wouldn't say it then, but today I find them better than any fast food joint burger. Sorry Mom! lol

My mom was always on a budget. I really don't remember eating out, unless we were out of town. Always fed, always good, always full.

@gmanpaint, those "Welfare Burgers" sounds like they resemble meatloaf. Home cooking always works for me

Pretty close to meatloaf mix, but when made into burgers and grilled, they come out pretty damn amazing. Juicy and tasty for sure! Try it sometime.

Been a while since I made this...

Crock pot of beef chili. Brooks hot chili beans, and a couple more alarms.

Topped with cheese & sour cream. Sleeve of saltines as a side dish. Washed down with Milk.

Was a hot muggy one today so I cranked the A/C down just for dinner. :D

A 4th of July 1/2 pound bacon cheese burger, fries and of course some cold beers in Oxford, MD followed by ice cream made on a local farm. Despite all of the storms a great day!

Cooked a full slab of bbq ribs, ate half. Sides of slaw and tater salad.

The other half, is what's for dinner, tomorrow.

Can't believe this thread is 100 pages long now! Lol

    Stuffed shells and garlic bread.

Was one of those frozen entrees, and was better than expected. Worth it.

We had a slab of ribs from my favorite rib shack in Southern Maryland. I’ve been eating at this place (T&J’s) B7C40A6D-6F4D-44AF-B7F3-F6D5F7DB9D45.jpeg since I was a kid in the early 70’s and it’s still owned and operated by the same family. Life is good!

85% lean ground beef was on sale for $2.79/lb, and Johnsonville brats were $2.99 per package, so fired up the grill again.

Brats turned out well done

That stinks. Good Chinese is hard to find in some areas. Other side of the state doesn't know what real Chinese is. Once you find a good one, you hope they outlive you.
