Guess who’s coming to dinner? We were visiting our friends up in the mountains of Western Maryland. We were grilling some wings, burgers and hot dogs when an uninvited guess showed up. We were on a deck about 8 feet above the bear.We started putting the bird feeders away which the black bears are always after and ready to make a lot of noise and get inside quickly if needed. Luckily he had enough of us and left peacefully. We started a large bonfire and enjoyed the chow and some cold beers while listening and watching just encase the bear came back. I forgot to take a picture of the food but got the bear on video.

Local big box grocery store had fresh bone-in split chicken breasts for 97¢/pound, so two of them got lemon pepper seasoning, two got Red Robin seasoning, and then baked uncovered. Side was store brand turkey stuffing mix.

I usually eat two, get tired of eating them, dice up the rest of them, and make something else.

Chicken noodle soup maybe? White chicken chili maybe? Hopefully look for another interesting recipe online...

Thanks, that was funny! It was an awesome experience seeing Yogi up close and personal. (I’m glad I wasn’t eaten also). F-this did cross my mind! You don’t want to run, their preditor instinct kicks in (you look like fast food) and they can out run you and climb trees. Just raise your arms over your head too look bigger, yell as loud and crazy as you can (my wife says that’s normal behavior for me) while backing away slowly and hope (pray) it works. And don’t soil your shorts, the bear will smell it and think your marking your territory and think f-you and will leave you a big steaming mountain muffin. I’m kidding about that last one, maybe. By the way we also have mountain lions and rattle snakes up here (oh my). You could just stay inside (that’s not fun) and be safe. Just enjoy nature and hope it doesn’t enjoy you (don’t end up on the bears or mountain lions “What’s for Dinner?”) thread!

    Now that's funny! lol

If the running happens, I just have to run faster than the next person, is all I meant. lol

We camp in black bear territory. I'm familiar what to do, but not everybody is. We also carry freedom sticks and spray as a last resort. Most of the time we just have to make a lot of noise, and they scoot. Grizzly bears I have yet to deal with, so can't say.

Past Saturday found me in KC at McGonigal's market in KC.

They had the real Tomahawk steaks so I got one of those and 2 bone in Strips for our son in law's birthday, as he wanted to show off his Traeger grill.
Huge bakers and bacon wrapped asparagus, Dr. Pepper.

The tomahawk steak weighed in at 38oz , with a 12 oz bone

    looks like this

    Nice. Flinstone steak! lol

Stopped by the local high society grocery store as I had business next door. Checked out the Deli, and drooled how the upper crust lives. lol They have a huge smoker onsite and cook with it daily. Couldn't resist. Grabbed dinner to take home.

1/2 lb real smoked sausage, Oven fried chicken breast, Cheesy potato bake, Grilled veggies, and a dinner roll. Couldn't finish it all, but man it was good.

    Yes, and a coke.

Tried to make Stove Top meatloaf again.

Easy Stove Top Stuffing Meatloaf Recipe - Food.com

Added some dried onion flake since I thought it needed some the last time I made it. I didn't form it into a "loaf" but spread it around in a 8x8 pan like a cake.

Only baked it for 40 minutes. Nice crispy edges. Not dry.

Some leftover "meatloaf. The baked chicken I made earlier was cut into pieces to make a chicken alfredo, and that was finished up.

I buddy gave me some homemade tortillas, so I took a pound of the $1.99/lb 80% lean I bought and made some taco meat with some Taco Bell taco seasoning.
