I know you've got to have one :D

I received my 2002 Explorer at no cost from my in-laws last fall. I was carless after I turned in a lease, and the truck is a good option for my daily 2 mile round trip commute so I gladly accepted. With 156k on the clock it's not without flaws. We're moving this summer, and so is my office so that sweet commute is on borrowed time. I'm going to have a busy spring:

Replace fuel pump

Transmission fluid change

Transfer case fluid change

Differential seals front and rear

Brake squeal (replace rear pads)

Front suspension replacement

Completed:
4x4 module

Full Tune-up

Replace both rear window regulators

Clean carpet

OOH! I get to play first!! :D

I plan on painting that stupid black trim on the pillars in the next couple days. Then wash it.

This weekend:
Trans filter and fluid change and adding magnetic drain plug and remote filter while doing the filter change
Transfer case fluid change
Differential fluid change
Fuel Filter change
Near Future:
Lift with rims and tires

Too much to do to list here!

Things to do:

Transmission fluid change ( I'm a bit afraid of it becose of stories that I have read online that the transmission have become worse after the oil change.)

Differential seals rear

Flush the cooling system

Completed:

Replace fuel pump

Transfer case fluid change

Both Differential fluid change

Brake fluid change

New Sparkplug

New parking sensors

Figure out why the heck my passenger window will roll down but not up. Motor is fine. Pass. window switch is fine. Moving to drivers' side tomorrow. Hope its not the master switch.

Figure out how to check the trans fluid on this thing. The two plugs I seen look like the transfer case. I'll check the forum.

Find some stock rims locally and change out the upper ball joints these 20's destroyed.

Eventually plugs, wires, etc.

Fix the gas shocks that hold up the hood. Someday. Right now a board does the trick.

Other than that, this truck kicks ass.

This morning:

Changed the oil.
Topped off fluids.
Fixed a broken air box and put in new filter.
Replaced wiper blades (I know I know...but it counts)

Replace blend door.

To do:

Fix oil filter adapter leak (TSB 4-19-10)
Pull intake/fuel rail/valve covers to inspect timing chain cassetes
Fuel Filter
Rear right upper ball joint
New shocks
Fix roof (rusting)

Fix body rust
replace center console
figure out why my batery decharges so quickly (it is almost new)
install new engine belt
fix tail lights
replace plate bulb
paint ugly faded trim and plastic
fix or remove rear wiper
evntually do somethign with teh rattling disconnected AC.
eventually replace or beef up rear springs
bunch of little insignificant stuff too.

'03 v8 xlt 4x4 with 80,000

Working on the rear differential right now. Replacing axle and pinion seals, and cover gasket. New fluid also.
Replacing the rotors/pads all around and the rear brake calipers.
Just replaced rear e-brake pads.

Need to paint the roof, some paint has peeled off with light rust in a few spots.
Trans, t-case, front diff fluid.
Cabin air filter mod.
Maybe 4th gen tail lights.

Replace EGR valve on a 5.0.... not looking forward to that.

To do:
Replace front suspension struts.
Paint door pillars
Freshen up plastic body moldings
Replace hood struts
Replace rear window struts
Clean TB - idle is low

Recently Done: (All jobs done myself)
New Battery - today
Both rear wheel bearings
Transmission fluid and filter - last weekend
Oil filter adapter gasket
Center Console lid
Storage cover
Front brake pads and rotors
Diff oil
Oil/filter/air filter

To Do : Motor Mounts , Oil Pan gasket , Trans pan gasket , Add In Trans Drain plug , Replace Fuel filter and Tank Float - have both of those already , and tires and alignment for now .

Inspect my installation of my diff locker (just to make sure all of the bolts I loosened in the process are tight as they should be...)

Try to straighten out the body panel and fix the rear bumper from where I dented it accidentally drifting into a snowbank at 25mph.

Fix/replace the running board that I broke off on a stump (may replace them all together because the plastic running boards are annoying as hell because they collect snow and just hold it there ALL WINTER making them useless.

Clean the interior (got bad from the winter and it is tan so I need to give it some tlc)

I'm sure there is much more too.

If anyone can help me with this list specifically that would be cool :) Like links and stuff if you can find helpful ones. Just starting to drive with license. 99,x.. miles 4.0l v6 2002 explorer sport auto

.

Snow collecting on the running board support brackets is exactly why I am removing the running boards as soon as the weather breaks here.

Re-painting the front grille is another project, cleaning the interior and touching up some scratches in the paint work as well. Also hope to replace all 4 strut/spring assemblies some time this year. I'm sure they'll be more projects than this.

I have a 1997 Black XLT. Very Clean! I have about 290,000 miles. 33x12.5x15

in the process as we speak:

- move speaker and sub amps behind rear panel

- add extra power point where the rear factory radio control are

- add 400 watt power inverter. (one receptacle in the rear and one to be routed to the front by the power point on the passenger side floor board)

- finally install rear view camera to my alpine unit

- finally install iPod cable that came with alpine unit (done! I don't know why I didn't do it from the beginning. I remember I didn't have a iPod :p )

- train horn wiring

- Wash truck

urgent:
swap front differential (currently 3.27s in front, 4.10s in rear)
replace parking brake cable
replace both rear door latches & window motors
install new speakers
fix bouncy speedo
might attempt to fix AC by draining and refilling refrigerant
trace down the culprit of my bouncy idler pulley
replace suspected oil pan gasket leak

not so urgent:
do some body work then get it repainted original color
find a rear seat cover
replace carpet and headliner
manual trans swap (have all the parts ready, but I'm waiting since my auto gives me no trouble at all)

explorer probz...
