Wheel Sensor Compatibility

I got a buddy that wants to sell me his 2011 Ford Explorer 20 inch wheels and tires for a great price. The only problem I can think of is the wheel sensors. Would his wheel sensors be compatible with my 2007 XLT? Has anybody have some experience with this.

You mean tire pressure sensors correct? I would think they may need to be recalibrated if the 2011s run different pressure than we do, but still - if you got them for a really good deal, it shouldn't be too bad of an extra to get new sensors from the dealer. You could also just ask them - assuming you like your dealer.

Motorcraft TPMS Sensor application:

TMPS23 = 2011 Ford Explorer All Engines 4 (no other years applicable)
The 2011 Explorer is a valve stem sensor.

2007 Sport Trac
TPMS7 = 16"
TPMS8 = 17"
TPMS9 = 18"
The 2007 Sport Trac is an internal band clamp mounted sensor.

Interesting..... So my sensors might work on that wheel. Just got to make sure to not use the valve sensors from the 2011 wheels.
