Yesterday I started noticing a slight whirring noise when the AC engages. It's not very loud, but noticeable. Especially with the hood up. It only seems to start making this whirring noise after the engine has been running for a while.
i.e. when I started the car this morning it wasn't there. However, after driving it for about 30 - 45 minutes, it started to become noticeable.
The AC itself appears to work great. I have no problems with it not cooling.
This is a 07 SportTrac V6 4.0 liter.
I am afraid that bringing it to the dealer for diagnostic will result in the inevitable: "Oh, your compressor needs to be replaced, as well as your heater etc. etc." so I wanted to run it by the experts here first and see what you guys think.
