Okay, well these cameras have been poping up around all over the place. G/F got a ticket. Then I see a plate cover that changes at angles this morning.

What should I get. Which is the best? It's not the flash style cameras.

Don't raise your hopes most of them don't work. Believe me I know. Our MOT (Ministry of Transport) test now fail cars for having them on and if stopped its just one more thing to go on the ticket. We have a new rule now that states all cameras must be painted bright yellow and be clearly visable (not tucked behind hedges etc). Best bet is to look out and drive careful.

Dang. I am not sure if what I am looking at is a Photo Radar actually, but that is what I think they are. This is all pretty new to me.

Ours (again what I think they are) are mounted high above the road with a cylindrical tube with a black hemisphere for a lense. All over the road I take to work. Now that this is a highly traveled zone in the morning I'll be darned if I am NOT going to keep up with traffic, even if it above the limit posted. Now I would hate to have a bunch of "Letters" come in the mail all of a sudden and break the bank. I saw a plate cover this morning that was clear from behind but it got fuzzy as I passed and the angle of view increased.

I may just be paranoid...heh heh, "just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not after you.."

They may only be monitoring traffic flow rather than your speed. Can they put them up without any signs over there. Do you know of anybody getting a ticket from them. The covers may work for you just don't rely on them to keep you safe. All the best.

Get a shot gun. Go a safe distance away (so they can't see you). Take care of the camera. :-D Don't really do that...

Don't waste your money on a plate cover:
      1.they don't work
      2. one more thing for a cop to hassle you for
      3. the images are captured by digital cameras and there are several ways to enhance the image and still get your plate#

Side note: they have been talking about banning the flash cameras here because the # of rear end accidents has increased due to people slamming on their brakes when the flash goes off

haha!! Yea I was thinking of taking a digital camera, walking around with a paper bag on my head with a funny face drawn on it and taking photos of me giving those things the bird. Then wait and see if any surface, then I could tell what they are for. And that would be funny as H#LL to have a bunch of pictures of...LOL

We had those "Van Cams" with photo radar, last year here in Hawaii. They only lasted about 4 or 5 months. A huge public outcry resulted in the city cancelling the contract with the company that brought them here. Thank God they are gone because they created nothing but problems. Funny thing is, while they were here, even the cops were ticketing them for illegal parking...LOL.

Now that you mention it, I have a cover on my license plate (light smoke tint, legal) but I do recall many times after 4x4ing the mud covers it quite well... :) If you don't mind driving a dirty Explorer, it may be do-able.

We have them here in DC (not in Maryland or Virginia just the District), they sit up on the dashboards of parked police cars (unnmarked). I've gotten pretty good at spotting them (slow down when passing any Crown Victoria at night). Everyone is up in arms.

Best thing is, the company that produces these things takes 10% of the ticket revenues. If thats not piracy I dont know what is.

Speeding tickets are a business, nothing else. For our safety my ass.
