I got this explorer back in 2004 when I was 15 from my mom. It had a blown transmission that I had to get replaced. Since then I have modified it. The only bolts I haven't turned would be on the original motor.

This picture was taken when I spend most of my day washing and waxing it with McGuire's 3 step wax system.... boy did it shine!

I like the tough built bumpers. That's awesome that your girl has one, looks good does it have the same lift setup as yours?

Yeah, her explorer is identical to what mine used to be. 3" body and almost 2" suspension lift. Her explorer has the axles & 4.56 gears that was in my explorer.
She hit a deer with it not to long ago and busted the grill and the passenger side headlight out of it. Also mangled up the bumper and fender. I got the fender pounded out pretty good, built a bumper for it, and put a chrome grill and the chrome headlight housings in. Now it doesn't have that limited edition look that I miss, but it could have been worse. I'll get pictures on here of the way it looks now sometime here.

That sucks, least she didn't get hurt herself.

lookin good bro love those snow pics

your homemade bumper is awesome too

Now we need to see it out on the trails :D

Now we need to see it out on the trails :D

Hopefully this summer. I am planning to enter it in the all ford nationals and then go wheeling with the explorer forum group that sunday, but I won't know if I will be able to until closer time.

Sounds good, I plan on doing the same.

About a month ago my torque converter took a dump. It still moved but it sounded like a tin can rolling with a few nuts and bolts in it.
It was a jasper remanufactored a4ld that had 40,000 miles on it when I had it installed in my explorer. I put about 70,000 miles on it. So 110,000 miles before the tc let loose. I couldn't believe it lasted that long.

I didn't do the normal solute or piss on it.... it did serve me well for what I paid for it and the abuse it has been through.

I got the Y exhaust pipe out today in prep for installation of the manual tranny. Broke 2 of the y pipe to manifold bolts (1 on each side). I ordered these studfix.com in hope that I won't have to drill these out.

Hopefully I get this done before any real snow flies because this sas hasn't seen snow yet!

Transmission is bolted in. I didn't have bellhousing bolts so I made a trip to fastenal.

These are grade 10.9 bolts

top four bolts : 10-1.5x60mm
middle two bolts : 10-1.5x70mm
bottom two bolts: 10-1.5x75mm

Well my explorer has been a 5 speed manual for a while now. It is a night and day difference between the automatic and this manual. It seems to get up to speed quicker with less effort, I love it!

When on the rocks and technical spots it needs lower gears. I came across behemoth fab's strong box kit and decided to order a 1354/1354 kit. Should put me at a 107 crawl ratio. Right now my crawl ratio is 43  I'm excited!

..Did you ever install your new doubler?

..I see you ordered it about 6 weeks ago but those of us looking for a doubler haven't heard your review..

I haven't received it yet. I was supposed to have it around June 1st but Jake had some machine issues that have delayed production. It is suppose to be done next weekend. He has been real good with communication so far. I will definitely do a full review with pictures as soon as I receive it.... I am just glad I wasn't in a hurry for this thing!

..Thanks for the update and will be anxiously awaiting your review..:biggthump

That sucks.. Did you pay by credit card? If so I'd file a claim

Paid him through paypal.

He texted me on 8/1/12 and said he got the shafts in and my doubler should be shipped by the middle of next week. He also said he is getting setup to do his own shafts.

He told me on 8/8/12 he is pushing to get it done that week.

I'll probably text him Monday to see what the latest set back is.

I have seen two doublers, d.d.machine, ready to run, on therangerstation.com for sale in the classified for about the same money I sent to Behemoth DT. I should have waited for them or just bought a d.d.machine kit. I could kick myself but it won't change anything.

I am just hoping to receive a quality doubler that Jacob @ Behemoth speaks of this year
