I have an early production 02 XLT 4X4 4.6, I recently tried to smog it but the smog station said it wont pass because there is no mode 6 data. His diagnostic unit said no power to pin 16 (the orange wire). I just pulled the dash out and have found the wiring harness has been spliced into by an aftermarket unit on the steering column. it looks like an alarm. did a pinpoint test at pin 16 and it showed power. however when i plug my genisys touch into the OBD II connector it sounds like there is a relay installed inline that clicks then the message of no communication is displayed on my scanner (genisys touch) any ideas on how to proceed with diagnosis?
