Okay, small chance I still make the trip! Found an engine for the X that I'm gonna do some quick repairs on and just swap right in! Least I hope, going to try and grab it tomorrow morning! So we'll see, I may be ready! Not sure I'll have the funding yet for a trip like that, but I'm still trying!

Great to hear there's a chance!
I'll have coffe to spare in the mornings if that helps reduce your costs. 😆

Definitely exciting! Well I appreciate it but I'm not much for coffee, need to try to get used to that vs other things, but my girlfriend wouldn't mind the coffee! Lol

@DemonMudder Nice! Just let us know what the final decision is before you show up (or not!); it's not too long into the future, you know!

Yeah, that's why I'm not saying yes or no yet, just definitely a better chance since I may have found a good donor! And as said, still may not go anyway due to funding, getting the engine and tranny are gonna pull a lot of cash away, so we'll see! Really hope to go, miss the mountains! But I'll keep ya posted!

Updated the list of prospective participants.

With two weeks remaining before the weekend that this event begins, now would be a good time to start going over vehicle maintenance checklists, equipment condition checklists, and of course, supply checklists!

I've got enough food and water to support two people for the duration, if you like granola and raisins.

Don't forget your walkie talkies and ratchet straps!

Remember cameras too! Take pics for me!

Updated the list of participants.

As this event begins, let's all remember not to take opporunities for granted. This may be the first time for some, and it may be the last time for others. Some times things happen, for better or for worse, that open new doors and/or close old ones. Every day, in all things, take the time to appreciate the opportunities.

The Lord giveth, and the Lord taketh away. Consider, appreciate, thank, move forward!

To the trails, boys!

Looking forward to photos :D

@Rick Strangely, I found no one at our designated camp site and no radio contact. Even hit the other forum to see if anybody was around, but nobody responded there either.

Nevertheless, I did get a few photos!

My brother got some good pics and videos, but he never sends them.

Almost rolled the Vulture; it was up on just the passenger wheels (!) and I actually felt it start to fall over, but through no action of mine it came back and landed upright. I'll just consider that divine intervention, because my passenger could have reached out the window and touched the ground probably with his elbow if he felt like it.

Damn, sorry to hear no one showed, that's disappointing. Glad to hear it was still an interesting trip! Some fun pictures all the same too! Dang that poor f150 though..

@DintDobbs We were there Thursday to Monday noonish. 3 of us ran the trails. (all that showed). I had lots of pics and 4k video, but the SD card crapped out and lost it. I busted a driver side cv on a Saturday night run, pulling out a wrangler Rubicon hung on a rock on the front side/top rock garden on Daniel. No good deed goes unpunished.
Yes, I completed all of Daniel! W00t!
Tried to replace the cv on Sunday, but cannot get it out of the diff. Snap ring must be mangled.
Decided to limp on home Monday since couldn't run any more trails.
On top of that, some dirt bag piece of sh#t stole my Overland Bound Base Camp flag and pole that was at the entrance to the camp.
Glad you made it, catch up on the next run!

@DemonMudder More pics to come! It wasn't a dry run, we got plenty of good action shots (including the flex rock!) and I think my bro caught up to the moment of the tip on Dutch John in a video. I'll plan to find out later today.

'Tis a shame about the F-150; that was a bad spot to burn down, but at least it wasn't upside down or blocking the trail... I hope they laughed about it and enjoyed the experience, and it wasn't somebody's daily that got ruined.

@DannyW Who all showed? I know Patrick and Steven were in on OB, are they the only ones who came?

What clown would steal an OB flag? I didn't think those were exactly in high demand, may be I'm wrong.

Sounds like you had quite a bit of fun anyhow! Good going, on Daniel! If I had caught it with the group, I would have run with you guys, but I wasn't about to risk my Ben's spotting.

CV's are wear components, you sent 'er off in the only proper way. Too bad about the SD card, though. Did the others get any pics or videos?

The Vulture got an owie on the passenger LCA but this is surprisingly the only mark I found, in spite of the thrashing and bashing she took on the rocks. Somehow the torsion bar mounts didn't take a scratch this time. I know I dragged the rear diff once, but there isn't a mark to show for it.

I tried to keep most of the wheels on the ground most of the time. Definitely had the front in the air on the breakover checks a few times though (Wolf Den at high speed is a hoot).

Well dang, least the rigs still drive! Glad at least ya didn't end up there alone. Yeah, hope that f150 wasn't too bad like ya said. Glad it was a great trip though! Hopefully I'll have the chance next year with either of my rigs!

Incidentally, now seems like a good time to start planning for next time. I think going late in the year was definitely a good move. The day saw low 80's and the night saw high 50's. Insects were minimal and I didn't feel the need to use any repellent.

I saw a few deer and my pal heard a fox at camp, but nothing scary.
