Brakes pulse/surge and looking for opinions on parts

Looks great to me! I wish I was more patient letting paint cure. I usually get it to the dry point then start re-installing rather than waiting for the paint to cure.

    Frame ground strap

Yes, silver works too. The first image from Google was of a gold one so I used that. I did mean ground eyelet as in the ends of the ground strap. I have cleaned up and re-assembled more than enough on grounds to find that it fixes mysterious electrical stuff that's going on. Generally wire...

    Frame ground strap

I use a small, short bristled wire wheel on a drill to strip the paint/rust where the new ground hole is going. Works quick and can even clean up an old ground eyelet if need be.

Brakes pulse/surge and looking for opinions on parts

Yes, red LocTite is stronger than blue. You're supposed to need heat to remove red, but that's in an ideal world where both surfaces are perfectly clean on install and the product sets correctly. You probably won't miss the anti seize if you leave it out. CRC brake grease is silicone based...

Brakes pulse/surge and looking for opinions on parts

I used red LocTite on my bracket and knuckle bolts, although given the heat cycling brakes see LocTite won't really work as intended. It was inexpensive peace of mind that the bolts won't rattle all the way out if somehow they came loose. I wouldn't go too bananas with the anti-seize on the...

Brakes pulse/surge and looking for opinions on parts

My experience is: Get high-temp brake paint, or it won't hold up.

They are vendors on this site, that's the point.

    Groan/grumbling noise, only in 4x4

I got a 2003 ST this June. I tested the 4x4 operation when I got it, and everything worked fine. However, I didn't drive any decent distance in 4x4. Now, I have a grumbling noise coming from the front of my ST while in 4x4. I am thinking to check the front diff fluid first of all. Front...

bad rear end shake at 50mph

Valid point, I was assuming new as there are a lot of aftermarket options due to the popularity of the 8.8 in the off-road world.

bad rear end shake at 50mph

I am wagering on bent wheel, from the sledge. Alternate possibility is the bent axle flange as suggested above. To diagnose that on my Jeep (similar axle design) I put the rear axle on jack stands and idled in 1st gear. Stop taking parts off when you can see the wobble. Mine came from bent...

There are only 12 sizes listed on the BFG website. I bet they are posting sizes as they become available/finish production.

Worst case scenario could be to make a panel to cover the holes, then Line-X the tailgate?

    Left Trailer Stop/Turn Signal Issues

Update: I ended up patching into the turn/stop signal right at the tail light and it works great with the trailer. Seemed to be the lesser of two evils compared to digging through a long piece of harness looking for a fault in the OE trailer wires. Thanks for the help.

Winter tire shopping in Canada suck....

Try Discount Tire as well, I have ordered from there and Tire Rack and the prices are usually pretty competitive between the two, with one typically being a bit less expensive for the same package. And to save the whole do-I/don't-I declare the purchase at the border, Discount incorporates...

    Left Trailer Stop/Turn Signal Issues

Thanks for the guide! That confirms what I found and tells me what color wire to look for in the taillight. I swapped bulbs left to right and cleaned the contacts, and ultimately used a test light at the connector to verify the issue is upstream of the plug at the bumper. It's definitely...

    Left Trailer Stop/Turn Signal Issues

Everything works on the vehicle - it's the factory trailer wiring on the vehicle that seems suspect.

    Left Trailer Stop/Turn Signal Issues

I have hooked up a flat 4 pin trailer to my 2003 Sport Trac and all the lights work except for the left stop-turn. To troubleshoot: I checked the fuse in the dash board (OK) and under the hood (also OK) for the various trailer-related circuits. There is no power at the connector under...

4x4 How and when to use

That's what's called a part-time 4x4 system. You use it as necessary in a slippery situation. The speed of the front and rear axles are locked together and rely on a slippery surface to let them match number of wheel revolutions. 4x4 can get in a bind on a dry, grippy surface and you will know...

    Bilstein Front Shocks?

Today I put on some Bilstein 5100 shocks (valved 255/70, 10" travel) that I had kicking around in my parts bin, along with some bar pin eliminators and the improvement in ride compared to the factory 11 year old shocks is incredible! This thing has controlled body roll and even brakes a lot...
