    Fuel pump locking ring

SOLVED!!!!!!!!! Thank you all. Finally warm weather to really test the ex. Runs great. I'd never thought that I had another bad fuel pump. Or perhaps the locking ring wasn't tight to begin with. Thanks for all your help!!!

    Fuel pump locking ring

My brother is an assistant manager at Autozone and he told me the Airtex fp have a high failure rate. (Now he tells me after the fact.) Thankfully Airtex has a lifetime warranty. Perhaps Airtex made a bunch of bad pumps wether it was poor manufacturing practice or bad components or all of...

    Fuel pump locking ring

fuel pump replacement lessons learned I replaced the fuel pump with an Autozone Airtech fuel pump last December. Thankfully it has a lifetime warranty. Replaced it today and I have a better giddy up. Also, the X starts up easier when engine is cold. However, after replacing the pump, I received...

    Fuel pump locking ring

Several months ago (around last November when the weather was cooler here in Norfolk, VA), I replacd my fuel pump. No issues until a few weeks ago when outside temperature reached around upper 60s. When stopped at a traffic light or stuck in traffic after engine warms, X runs really rough. Half...

    iat sensor problem? location?

Thank you for your feedback. Wouldn't I have a CEL if the ect went bad? Or could the ect be bad enough to cause symptoms and not meet the threshold of the pcm to register a fault? Autozone has one for $24 and I'll replace it. I wouldn't know if it fixed it until next warm day.

    iat sensor problem? location?

94 ex, 2wd, 4dr. I'm experiencing the following symptoms on warm days (above 60 degrees) when engine at normal operating temperature: 1. Very rough idle ready to stall when stopped. Sometimes it stalls, but most of the times it runs rough. 2. Poor acceleration. But when I reach about 20mph, it...

    Code 337, DPFE?

Problem solved. I replaced dpfe sonsor in the summer of 2012 and a heads up employee at Autozone indicated it's a lifetime warranty saving me $53! I took it out and plenty of burn marks. Truck starts up easier when engine is cold, smoother running, and I hope to get better gas mileage. Also...

    Code 337, DPFE?

94, 2wd, 4dr. CEL with code 337. Measured DPFE voltage with ignition engine off and reading was 5vdc. Engine running at idle same voltage reading. I cranked up the rpm and again same voltage. My million dollar question, should the DPFE voltage coming out be near 0 vdc when engine off or idle...

    fuel pump voltage

Replaced fuel pump assembly. Originally I was just gonna replace the pump and strainer. Without much effort I broke the rusted fuel line pipe on top of old fuel pump so I had no choice but to replace the whole thing. It started ok but roungh. It got progressivly better but then went downhill...

    fuel pump voltage

I chased down the voltage of the green/yellow wire. They all read 12vdc then after a second or so drops to 9.4 to 9.6vdc of the following points: At power dist box under under relay; A connector directly under the box; At pin 8 at PCM; (metal paper clip came in handy) At inertia switch; and...

    fuel pump voltage

Further troubleshooting. That 9.6 v is there after 2 or 3 seconds. It read 12vdc during those 2-3 seconds but still did not hear the pump. I also did what AWOOD suggested by measuring voltage by the fuel tank. When key is turned it goes up to 12v then after a second or so it drops to 9.6v...

    fuel pump voltage

94x 2wd. Engine will not start but cranks. I have 9.6vdc coming out of the fuel pump relay. (I removed the back cover of the fuse box that is located just aft of the battery. I was able to to probe a test lead and read the 9.6v.) I swapped relays and still the same 9.6v. The wire color is dark...

1993 Explorer XLT fuel pump issue.

fuel pump voltage issue 94x 2wd. Engine will not start but cranks. I have 9.6vdc coming out of the fuel pump relay. (I removed the back cover of the fuse box that is located just aft of the battery. I was able to to probe a test lead and read the 9.6v.) I swapped relays and still the same...

    Transmission Modulator 94 2wd

Success!!!! Upon further review, I noticed a clamp that was not tightened all the way. Apparently, the pervious owner sawed off the trans cooling lines for whatever reason adjacent to the oil pan. He used heavy duty hose where the inside diameter = outside diameter of the cooling...

    Transmission Modulator 94 2wd

I am seriously losing tranny fluid through my vacuum line and through my intake manifold and hench mixing with fuel, air, spark, AGAIN!!!!! Exuast smells like trans fluid and looks light blue in color on a hot Virginia day. I just replaced the modulator two weeks ago. The same problem has...
