    Please educate me!

First image is the blower motor case/heater/AC box. Replace it with a non-AC unit from the junkyard, just be careful the plastic is kinda brittle and you don't want to crack it. This is a pita, there are several hard to reach fasteners holding it onto the firewall....all 10mm fasteners IIRC...

    truck bed cover options

My neighbor just got a metal roll up lockable type of bed cover for his new pickup. I think this is the one: http://www.peragon.com/?ref=google&gclid=COaT7LDB748CFRk0awod-xBeMg This or something similiar is waht I'd go for, VERY NICE!

Venting about my 2007 Sport Trac Ltd. 4x4 V8

That is seriously messed up. They should retrofit your door panels for free...they are just cheap molded plastic peices. The tranny not having a dipstick or easy way to check/change the fluid??? I would be pissed off. As somebody else said, take it to the dealer and make them chekc the...

Piece of upper balljoint stuck in spindle

That's a weak design and having it a blind hole makes it even worse. What was Ford thinking??? Looks like time for a new (to you anyways) spindle or pay a competent machine shop to EDM it out, but that may cost more than a good used spindle.

    AC definitive removal

Champion spark plugs are junk for the guy several posts up...barely fit to run a lawn mower, but to each their own. I removed the AC from both my trucks....take the condenser, receiver/drier, all lines, accumulator, heat exchanger in the hvac box, get a non-AC heater box and replace any ducts...

    Courier

That would be sweet. Crankcase, That stock picture takes me back to when my friend's dad bought one brand new baby blue 4 cylinder, 5-speed longbed. That truck took many beatings and kept on ticking! Ford needs to get back to the basics and make more affordable trucks instead of power...

No 5th or Reverse in m5r1

Gah!!! I removed the shifter stub and found out that it was in backwards (180* off!!!) seems my stub shaft is supposed to (and now does) have the retaining pinch bolt going side to side at the REAR of the shifter. Of course I already cut and welded my shift stick last night and it's all pretty...

No 5th or Reverse in m5r1

Got my rebuilt m5r1 in and running, but can't physically get the shifter to go into 5th or Reverse! It feels like it barely maybe starts to move over to the right one more gate...but doesn't. The shift stick is not hitting anything and no boot on yet so there isn't anything that I can see to...

    Aluminum drive shaft replacement

But it has to be a larger diameter to be the same strength therefore it gets smashed on rocks easier. Also more expensive to rebuild or modify than a steel driveshaft. I'd much rather have a steel driveshaft. Take the shaft to a reputable driveshaft shop that knows 4x4s and have them check...

Engine just died.....then ran fine after restarted

    That's why I said fp relay. ;)

    Cranks over no spark.

Great infor and glad you got it fixed. I'd check both motor mounts and the trans mount and probably replace them all as that is prolly how the distributor got broken when it all shifted on landing and hit the firewall.

    87 Ford Ranger

Yes. They are easy to remove and replace in these years, couple screws under the dash on passenger side, two hose clamps under the hood at the firewall and it drops out the bottom of the heater box. Thoroughly wipe any coolant out of the heater box unless you really like the nasty smell. :)...

Engine just died.....then ran fine after restarted

Fuel filter, especially if you run tank low all the time more chit gets into the filter quicker. I a$$ume that we're working on your 88 2.9 manual Ranger??? If yes, TFI ignition module on backside of distributor could be going bad. You should always carry a spare one of these and the special...

    86 4 cyl swap

Probably swap the intake and exhaust manifolds at least....don't know it they are different since mine is 2.9 but I have swapped a couple engines between years on different vehicles. Maybe some sensors too. Look at the two side by side very closely if possible and then call an autoparts store...

    2.9 V6 down to a 2.3 4 Cyl

Prolly the computer, wiring harness, motor and tranny mounts, shift linkages, floorplate, boots, intake, exhaust, etc. Personally I'd get another 2.9 or upgrade to a 4.0 if you're going to be re-wiring etc.
