Hello Matt, can you explain what you mean by "the ability to have remote start is built into the vehicle"? Does this mean that remote start is there in the 2016 PIU but not turned on? Apologizes for my ignorance.

Hmm, that has way more parts than my current PIU center console. Also, it has a USB and AC vents for the back. The 2016 Ford Explorer PIU does not have any AC for the rear. I do appreciate it though, Peter :) I will check out local junk yards. Thank you.

My dealer and other sources are all saying that only the old key and separate fob can work on the 2016 Ford Explorer PIU. The part number is 15K601.
