The Super Hawk is an R1, 63. Not sure about the Avanti. He sold new old stock parts from a shop behind his house for about 40 years. He told me the stories about both cars but it's been so long I don't remember all the details.
Check for the check engine light to illuminate. If it doesn't, the crankshaft position sensor is the most likely cause, if the bulb on the dash works. The edis module is separate from the ecm, the wiring for the module goes under the battery tray and can rub through in that spot.
I read a thread that someone recommended Remflex exhaust gaskets for hard to seal exhaust manifolds. I don't remember which member or I'd give them credit.
Looking good. I'm stalled on my project until I can get parts and someone to go through the engine. I'm excited to see your explorer rolling down the road with the new engine.
When I rebuilt the engine in my ranger, I used a tank pressurized by an air compressor that the engine oil was in. I used a hose connected where the oil pressure switch goes. I had 60 psi oil pressure on initial startup.
