The ABS light in my 94 eddie bauer 4x4 will come on occasionally. Just today i decided to scan the ABS for codes and got code 17. According to the 4ABS sticky post on this forum, code 17 is for "reference voltage". How should I go about diagnosing this further? What does reference voltage mean?

Well it is the original trans as far as i know. So about 167,x... It drives great though.

Well i tried it tonight. I was cruising down the road at 45, and the rpms were at about 1500. I floored it and the rpms jumped to about 2700. I dont know what gear it dropped down to.

I will have to try it soon and look at the tachometer and get back to you on that because i am not sure what the rpm's go to.

well lets say im doing 45 mph, when i floor it, it will downshift, but it doesnt seem like its downshifting as far as it should.

Hey guys. My 94' eddie bauer ohv 4.0l has the A4LD tranny (i think). My problem is that when i floor it while cruising down the road, it will not kick all the way down like it should. The kickdown cable is not broke. Does it need to be adjusted? And if so, how do you adjust it?

94' eddie bauer here with 167,x... Runs great, but im getting 12 mpg in town :/

Well the trip went very good! Except for the part where i busted a brake line. But we replaced it within the last half hour already!

My 94 does that too and the thing runs great! I would like to know if its anything to be concerned with.

Well mine does not run rough at all really. I've been thinking of taking it to my local Ford dealer to get it diagnosed properly.

Well that didn't fix the problem either, even with the wiring clip on all the way.

If i were to use these rubber stoppers, I would not need to make room by removing the exhaust manifolds and fender wells since i wouldnt have to do any pounding. Correct?

@ keithisg, do you know how well the dorman expansion plugs work? the ones where all you have to do is turn a nut.

Well we'd really like to do it without having to take a lot of stuff off. Not sure if thats gonna be possible though.

Hey there, I have been having coolant leak out of two of the freeze plugs on my 94' 4.0l. I am planning on going through and replacing all of the plugs. Can anyone give me some tips and/or tricks on how to replace them, without taking the engine out of the truck.

Dummy me. I didn't take the old rubber piece out of the wiring clip so the clip wasn't going on the new DPFE all the way. Opps!

Ahhh ok yea i didnt have the engine warmed up. I cleared the codes and will be checking to see if the CEL comes back on again. Ill keep you up to date.

I just remembered that the first time i did the KOEO test the first code i received was 114, but that was the only time it ever came up. I believe 114 has something to do with the IAT sensor being out of range. Is it possible for a code to come up once, but to not come up again?

Well for KOEO i got 327 and then for CM i got 332, 336, and 337. But on the KOER i just got 327.
