Front end rebuild, Circlip part number?

Hey everybody. I've got my front end torn apart (98 4x4 OHV), everything except the lower control arms and torsion bars. It started as replacing lower ball joints and cv axles to clear up for minor front end noise. Well I busted one tie rod boot and decided to go all in and replace the rack and...

OHV Top End Refresh. 410 Cam?

4.88s are definitely a goal and plan. Just not sure when I'll get the money together for the parts and install.

OHV Top End Refresh. 410 Cam?

Update. I've got about 700 miles on the cam now. All is well. Replaced the sender and gauge reads good. Truck runs well. I think off the line power is better than it used to be considering 33s and 3.73s. Stock it seems like power slowed down after 3k rpm but honestly now it seems like...

    Oil Pressure Switch Part Number#

I can't remember if I got the vehicle with an aftermarket sender on it or if I put an aftermarket on it years ago but the one currently on isn't one of those part numbers. I will look at those and see if I can't get my hands on any locally. The main issue I think I'm coming across is the...

    Oil Pressure Switch Part Number#

Okay so I know the location of the oil pressure switch. My current connection is tight at the nipple at least. When the engine is completely warm and at idle I'll get gauge fluctuation from 0 to Good. At 1k rpm or higher the gauge settles at good. This leads me to believe I have a bad sender and...

OHV Top End Refresh. 410 Cam?

Yeah I used acetone and atf to clean mine. Unfortunately it still tooks a few hours to get them all sufficiently cleaned.

OHV Top End Refresh. 410 Cam?

With the heads pulled up revealed carbon covered pistons. Pistons cleaned. Timing cover and set removed. To remove the cam I had to remove the radiator and fortunately the AC condenser was able to sit low enough without unhooking to slide it out. Except... I had to grind a notch out of the...

OHV Top End Refresh. 410 Cam?

So I finished the cam swap last weekend. It runs and drives. I have very little time on it so far. Maybe 40 minutes running at idle and one very short drive. I half shafted my throttle body while everything was apart and in the process messed up my factory TPS. I've got that replaced and it...

OHV Top End Refresh. 410 Cam?

Got the heads off. Was trying to take the manifolds off, I had been soaking them with PB Blaster, still no luck. Tried to heat them up with a propane torch. No luck. But then I realized I didn't have to remove them to access the oil filter housing nut. I jacked the exhaust up a few inches and...

OHV Top End Refresh. 410 Cam?

Started the tear down today after work. Put about two hours into it and I'm to the heads. Tomorrow I'm going to tackle the exhaust manifold bolts and get the heads off. I've also got two broken A/C compressor hold down bolts I plan to weld a nut too and try to remove. After heads I guess I'll...

OHV Top End Refresh. 410 Cam?

The custom ratio rockers are like 990 dollars I think so that's a definite further down the road or never upgrade for me. I think I'll definitely do gears before looking into more power gains, I've got 3.73s right now with 33s.

OHV Top End Refresh. 410 Cam?

Yeah, Tom has his 1.6 1.7 and 1.8 ratio rockers I think? Maybe in the future. Honestly after this refresh I think the next thing is to address my power steering leak and then maybe exhaust or gearing up to 4.56 / 4.88s.

OHV Top End Refresh. 410 Cam?

I definitely like the specs from what I can understand of them. I think the .450 lift will be more friendly to new stock springs since I didn't go to the dual springs. But the main selling point I could think of to people looking to cam their OHVs now a days would be that Delta had the cam core...

OHV Top End Refresh. 410 Cam?

Cam showed up today. Figured I'd share the specs here in case anyone in the future is interested in the Delta Cam Specs.

OHV Top End Refresh. 410 Cam?

The Hayden 2841 I bought seems to thread on perfectly and has the proper bolt pattern for the fan. I only threaded it on and right back off so I'll have try again and see if it's loose or properly tight. Edit. It threads on tight to the water pump shaft. But I think the concern now would be fan...

    Coilover conversion.

X2 On the North Peak Brackets. I have my kit but I haven't welded or converted my X yet.

OHV Top End Refresh. 410 Cam?

I'm not sure if I mentioned it but I have a Metal 5.0 fan. It will not fit on to the 4.0 fan clutch so I might order a 5.0 clutch and see if it fits onto the 4.0 water pump.

OHV Top End Refresh. 410 Cam?

Those look pretty nice. Alot more ventilation than I have ever seen on an XJ, but I guess they're aftermarket of course.

Got any pictures of those vents? And Pacesetters are around 200-250 I believe.

OHV Top End Refresh. 410 Cam?

I have considered hood vents in the past if I could find a style I liked. I'd love if they made Ford Raptor style hood vents to use on the X. I might hood off on headers until I plan to do a full exhaust or can find a set for an affordable price. JBA being 500 or so is too high for my taste and...

OHV Top End Refresh. 410 Cam?

I think they guy I buy my bracket kit from still makes them. It was around 95 dollars when I bought it I think. The Tbar are definitely a disadvantage and kills some of the break over angle for sure. The brackets have acted like a skidplate/rockslider on my X at least once or twice. Which would...

OHV Top End Refresh. 410 Cam?

Oh I definitely hope to do coils at the same time as the lift. I've just been holding off on converting because I don't want to have to buy two sets of coilovers, pre and post lift. Main reason I wanted to get Coilovers is to get rid of the TBar brackets and remove the front swaybar.

OHV Top End Refresh. 410 Cam?

Maybe far down the road. I've still got a minor power steering leak to address, coilover brackets that need coilovers, and I'm hoping to get a Superlift or Rough Country lift before I get coilovers. But that's all pretty far out I believe.

OHV Top End Refresh. 410 Cam?

Oh I definitely will. I'm considering going to the junkyard to get a core for Delta so I can keep my stock cam in case. Although if I can pay 30 extra and not send a cam back in I'd rather just do that. Now I might get those heads ported and polished with some of my cam savings haha.

OHV Top End Refresh. 410 Cam?

I called Delta Cam today and they said they have a grind for the 4.0 OHV. Little less lift than the Comp 410, at .450, but he said it has less issues at idle and low rpm. Either way I placed an order there and canceled my Carid order. Delta Cam quoted much much cheaper at 100 for the Regrind and...
