    Honest opinions of your Explorers?

Mabuhay from Hawaii. I used to own a 2002 Explorer but after two years and numerous, numerous problems, had to get rid of it. Glad I did. I would never buy a Ford Explorer again. Ended up buying a 2005 Toyota Sequoia Limited and could not be happier. 15000 trouble free miles!! The Toyota by...

Looking to purchase a 2004 Eddie Bauer V6, problems to look for?

Not trying to be anti ford or anything, but I used to own a 2002 Ex and got rid of it after 2 years. I had nothing but problems with. Had to take it back to the dealer/shop approx 13 times for various issues from the rear end whine to the rear glass exploding, to the various interior trim pieces...

    Engine will not start

Here is what I found so far: When I cycle the key on/off about ten times the truck will start. After that runs fine. Can shut it off and restart it...no problem. The problem is when it sits for an extended time, it seems that the fuel pressure is decreasing while it sits. So it seems to me that...

    Engine will not start

Having a hard time getting engine to start. The fuel pump, fuel pump relay, IAC, MAF sensor and fuel filter have all been changed. Have fuel pressure in the rail. Yesterday the truck started fine. It seems like after sitting awhile (overnight) the thing just cranks and will not start. Yes, I...

    Titanvs F150

Good choice with the Nissan! I looked into buying an F150 a year ago and you should see the problems the owners are having with these things already. Lots of TSB's. I will never again buy a newer Ford. I used to own a 2002 Explorer, what a piece of junk! Had it in the shop something like 13...

no b.s. review of the 3rd gen explorers???

probably was a lemon, just had no case to prove, regardless of how many problems it had. Just glad that it's gone! I was really worried about being able to sell it, but had it sold within a week for $15500.00.

no b.s. review of the 3rd gen explorers???

I used to own a 2002 XLS V6 and after numerous trips to the dealer finally got rid of it. The problems I had: - Transmission shifting rough, was in the shop twice for reprogramming. - Had 2 different steering shaft's replaced twice because of excessive play. - Rear glass struts constantly...

    2005 Explorer Questions

Before I sold my 02 Explorer, I was getting around 12 mpg! I now own a 2005 Toyota Sequioa (V8) and average around 17mpg. Go with the V8!

    windshield removal

I just removed the windsheild from my 92 Ranger. What a pain! Glass was already cracked. Took awhile but was finally able to get a steak knife betwen the body and glass and started from there. The glue was super hard, so I ended up just kicking out the glass (what a mess) from the inside. Once...

    2004 Eddie Bauer Explorer Questions

Recall I just rcvd the recall notice for the rear hatch on my (just sold) 02 Explorer. I had to deal with this rear hatch and its gas strut popping out just about the whole time I owned the Explorer. Only took Ford 2 1/2 years to resolve it. Guess Ill have to notify the new owner.

    Ranger post...redirected

Just picked up a 92 4x4, 5spd today for $2800.00. Had only 88000 miles on it. The thing runs but I would like to tune it up a bit, change all of the fluids, etc. Since I am new to the Ranger scene, was wondering what if any problems these year rangers had. Hopefully will pick up a repair manual...

    04 explorer very ruff suspension

Thanks for the input jimmyz79, I too feel the same way and that is the reason I am getting rid of the X. Just ordered a new 2005 Toyota Sequoia and it should be arriving the end of this month. I have been searching for shocks/suspension upgrades along with other peformance goodies and I am...

    04 explorer very ruff suspension

Thanks for the tips guys. I was really looking forward to picking up an 04 or 05 Explorer limited with the V/8. Guess I will have to thoroughly test drive the thing before buying.

    04 explorer very ruff suspension

One more thing to point out, the Sport/Sport Trac is a completely dfferent model than the 3rd generation Explorer. The Sport/Sport Trac, from my understanding, has always had a rough/harsh ride. The 3rd Gen X's are supposed to have a far superior ride than compared to the previous X's and mine...

    04 explorer very ruff suspension

Another way to explain our dilema xltbluesport, would be to have everyone inflate their tires to 60 or 70 psi and then drive around like that for awhile. Garuanteed, they would feel every pebble, groove or other imerfection in the road....lol!

    04 explorer very ruff suspension

xltbluesport, I have also been through the "lower the tire pressure" routine. As mentioned earlier lowering the tire pressure helps somewhat but barely. I even had mine down as low as 20psi, just to get the smoother ride but to no avail. I ended up changing my tires to LTX M/S 255's which...

    04 explorer very ruff suspension

Ditto on the rough riding 3rd Gen Explorers. My 2002 XLS rides like crap!!! Always has from day one. It is so bad that no drinks are permitted in the X, coffee, soda or whatever spills all over the place. Guess I should have taken it out on a rough road for the road test. Shock replacements...
