No, to thread into the small 3 holes in balancer, using a straight arm puller.

Serpentine belt length 1998 xlt 4 door w/ AC

Yeah, it's sohc you are correct . Did you compare rockauto part numbers to what you have?

Please post a picture of your engine showing front of valve covers.

Serpentine belt length 1998 xlt 4 door w/ AC

You must have an ohv engine. Rockauto shows the different part numbers for sohc vs ohv . Continental numbers have a 86 and 88 in them depending. I bet that is a length reference

    ENGINE HESITATION AFTER STORAGE

Did you drain what was inside tanks first? Both sitting then same symptoms I'd suspect something foul might have been put in the tanks

Replaced IAC now really high idle around 3K. I think I just need to do idle relearn (?) Not familiar with procedure for '97 Explorer. XLT 4WD 6 cyl 4l

It's possible to install an iac backwards. When this happens you get high idle.Try flipping it just for nothing other than to give it a try. The internal spring should hold the valve closed. While it's off check that it is, and the spring isn't broken. Should not need a relearn for a new...

    The Black Hole

Wish you luck. I kinda think 2" green frog tape around the whole edge of window would hold it , and leave no sticky stuff. It's my fav for stuff like this. Duct tape will work for sure but it leaves a mess. Just don't hurt yourself worse. No jerky motions trying to catch falling glass, etc...

Help a widow out (please?) -- rear shocks Ford Explorer 2000

I'm assuming the shop wants to use a local parts store. The duralast may come with a lifetime warranty, which AutoZone honors without question. The dang fence has 2 sides.

I think you can cut your hole for the shift lever, then reform the lever ( bend it) to fit. The hole will have to be larger though , higher up the tunnel.

Should I give up? Darkest hour. (scam-y used parts dealers)

It could very well be a transmission problem. However, a failed throttle position sensor can prevent an upshift, if the tps voltage is too high. It's an easy thing to check first.

    Can it be fixed?

My opinion is we should spend time helping joney find a newer explorer. This one will make it through another winter, and being creative with craigslist, shipping an explorer can be less money than you think, if time is allowed. Joney might very well learn to weld with a nice rig, but...

    Blend door problems

Somewhere in our forum here, there is a 5 minute blend door fix. You can then move the door by hand, but the drawback is, it's done thru a "door" you cut into the interior housing

Let's see, what can I powdercoat today?

It's a ceramic coating made for high temps, over 500 degrees. Same stuff traeger uses for their grills. Hopefully it will last. I do have a sandblasting cabinet. I use crushed Garnett , or aluminum oxide. No sand.

    Blend Door Actuator troubles

Did you perform the eatc reset? I think it's on the diagnostic procedure. Also, I do think the eatc uses a different blend door actuator than non eatc.

    Air vents out defrost

Look close in this picture. Driver side of upper intake, under the upper on plennum, tucked in behind the ac lines, you'll see the vacuum source connector at the other and of your broken line. Mine runs under coil packs, and tight right behind alternator
