    general transmission water related question

I have a transmission that was supposed to be a good tranny/possibly rebuilt that my neighbor was going to put in his Explorer. Unfortunately, he and his wife died before he got it put in. The trans sat in the open for quite a while, and got rained on quite a bit. it had a lot of water in it...

    Advice/opinion needed/wanted 97 4.0 going into 02 sport

Thank you both. I plan to keep it for the rest of my life or until it is no longer worth fixing. Whichever comes first. Both vehicles are complete. The Merc is missing the front fenders and some lights, but, other than that, it is complete. After I posted this, I thought maybe put the 4.0 in my...

    Advice/opinion needed/wanted 97 4.0 going into 02 sport

My '02 Sport finally gave up the ghost at 303+k miles. i really kind of like the thing and the way I have it set up, so I am looking at dropping another engine in it. I have 2 donor vehicles. One is a '97 Explorer 4 door 4.0 w/128k on it. The other is a '97 Mercury Mountaineer with the 5.0...

2004 Explorer 4.0 Fuel Pressure Test Port location ?

That's where I thought it should be. But I am having no luck locating it. I just found another post saying it is on the pass side, at the firewall end. Time to go look some more. Yep. It's there on the end of the fuel rail, passenger side. Points at the firewall.

    03 mountaineer 4.6l v8 cruise control

A bit late to the party, but you might check out your brake light bulbs. Don't forget the high mounted/third brake light, also. I've had that problem with my pick ups a few times. Bulb burns out, cruise don't work. '80's and '90's pick ups. May not apply to newer Fords/Mercurys.
