    Door Gasket?

Thanks. At least it gives me some parts numbers and most of all, a part name. After further examination, I am not sure if the seal is really that important other than just cosmetic. I know that Ford would not install them unless they felt it was necessary, but it appears that any water that...

    Door Gasket?

It is hard to search for a product when you are not sure what it is called. On my 2004 Sport Trac, the plastic rain barrier? that seals the area between the front and read door has rotted away to the point that it is nearly gone. It seems to be connected by 4 push pins on the rear door and...

2004 Sport trac damaged 2-piece tonneau cover?

Fiber glass would be my 2nd best suggestion right behind Gorilla glue. I too was thinking of a support piece, but was thinking of a piece of aluminum angle. A nice little piece of oak or hickory might be better.

2004 Sport trac damaged 2-piece tonneau cover?

Zeroing in on little repairs. My tonneau looks like someone got on it and jumped up and down to see how strong it is. It apparently was not strong enough. So I have 5 delicately spaced cracks in the fiberglass? that needs repair. Yesterday, I folded it back on the front piece, and put a...

How to fix your tonneau cover cables with epoxy

Mine is damaged too. But, the someone had removed all the latching hardware from the bed, so I may just try fixing the lock and finding the hardware somewhere later. I use heavy duty bungie cords to hold the rear section of my 2-piece cover down. It does create a small issue with closing the...

    What is this part?

I never toss stuff like that that I find. By it's design, it is more than just a cap, but a specially manufactured product that fits something. Down the road, you might wish you had it. Especially when you find that it is an integral part of something. But, honestly, I too do not know what...

    PATS / SecuriLock keys questions

2004 Sport Trac, 2wd. I received my keys in the mail from KeyMe today and they do work. When I called the lady at 'KeyMe', she said the price for one key was $99.95, but she sent me a coupon for 25% off. So, I anticipated paying $75 plus tax. When I opened the app at the kiosk, I was given a...

    PATS / SecuriLock keys questions

I found a local locksmith company called KeyMe that will cut one for $100. They also gave me a $25 coupon, so the net is $75. I have to take my key to their Kiosk at Bed Bath and Beyond and pay up front and they will mail me a new key. I don't have Forscan on my computer. Is that a free app...

    PATS / SecuriLock keys questions

I called the local Ace Hardware, and he said they do not do that. So, it may be a local thing to your area. But, thanks for all the information. I have called my grandson-in-law who works for the local Ford dealership to see what he can do. He has not returned my call yet. But, here's hoping..

    PATS / SecuriLock keys questions

2004 Sport Trac: I have one key with a little square remote to unlock doors. I wonder just how do I know if I have a Pat key? It appears to be a plain key with the word 'Ford' on it. It also has an "S" on the metal shaft. I do need an additional key just in case I lose or break this one...

    Radiator recomendations

I went to Advance and bought a new radiator simply because of the lifetime warranty. Cost about $150 and has been in about 2 months. No issues yet, but if it ever cracks, back to Advance it goes.. I kinda like the lifetime warranty on parts. It cost a bit more, but it helps me sleep at night.

2004 Sport track Flex: Changed wires and plugs

I was kinda concerned because the wires were so much longer than the ones coming off., But they work. They are mid-priced set @ about $35, but they have a lifetime guarantee. If I ever need another set, I may just fork over the extra bucks and get the Motorcraft set. Hopefully, they will be...

2004 Sport track Flex: Changed wires and plugs

After posting this, I got the owners manual out of the glove box and re-read the instructions. It said to firmly push center of number pads with the factory numbers... and it worked. My face is red. Sorry

2004 Sport track Flex: Changed wires and plugs

One more thing. The electronic key pad on the drivers door does not work. I have two numbers, one that the previous owner gave me, even tho he said it would not work, and I have the factory number which they say will work in all instances. But, they don't work either. I am wondering if maybe...

2004 Sport track Flex: Changed wires and plugs

Took my brother and me nearly 4 hours to change 6 plugs and wires. Fortunately, he had a lift or it would have taken longer. We had to remove the front wheels and work from the top and bottom. We put a little of the electric contact grease on the end of each wire. While trying to remove one...

    The right wheel bearing grease

    2004 Sport trac alignment issues

2004 Sport Trac with 2/wd. It is just a rotor with replaceable tapered bearings inboard and outboard. I replaced bad front wheel bearings with Ford oem. Very expensive, but I wanted to do it right, and do it one time. Well, I was wrong.. So, now I will start all over. Before I saw your...

    2004 Sport trac alignment issues

Is there supposed to be any play in the front wheel after installing bearings? Replaced the ball joints on both front wheels, and now need an alignment. Took it to Discount Tire company and they refused to align the front wheels because there is a miniscule amount of play in the bearings...

How do we know if we need new ball joints?

That area around the hose bib must be a weak spot as I read where someone else had the same problem. I bought a radiator from Advance for $160 because it had a lifetime warranty. It should not be such a problem to install. I stopped at another local repair shop to get a barnyard estimate on...

How do we know if we need new ball joints?

I did a top and bottom ball joint replacement a couple of months ago on a Ranger that I owned with a tool borrowed from Advance Auto parts. The only thing really difficult was getting rusty bolts out and cold garage, which I will not have this time. But, I may have a money pit here. Now I...

How do we know if we need new ball joints?

Lot of miles. 175,000. I think I do need to take it to another shop and let them look at it, but I am convinced that it needs lowers. Not so sure about uppers. I may just watch YouTube over and over and do it myself, against my wife's better judgement. She wants me to just have it done and...

How do we know if we need new ball joints?

Took my 04 Sport Trac to the alignment shop and the mechanic took a long bar, put it between the wheel and a hard place and lifted the wheels about a half inch or so. There was definite moved up and down in the lower joints. Left side a little more than the right. He said they were shot and...

    The right wheel bearing grease

Thanks for all the constructive comments. I went to Advance and got a cheapie $6 bearing greaser, a tube of Valvoline Ford Wheel bearing grease, and a new seal. Cleaned up the bearings as much as I could, and mounted it in the greaser and applied air to my grease gun and forced all the old...

    The right wheel bearing grease

Sorry, when re-reading this, I added the word "Trac" to the title info. It only calls it a Ford Explorer Sport.
