I had to search rather extensively to find these specific leafs. Most websites just sell the oem replacements (which will have the same problem as the stock leafs after a while). Most people just do the f150 leafs, a helper spring, or the coil overs
when I did mine I got the monroe sensatrec load adjusting shocks and when I was searching for leaf springs for the explorer I found a website that offered a heavy duty set ( sorry cant remember the site) but the leaf packs were an extra 500 lbs stiffer ( the load rating) i put those on there. I...
I went ahead and pulled the trigger on getting the 96 5.0 v8 to swap into my 98 (I know this will make a few things a little harder, but it only has 88k miles on it). Where did you find the wiring diagrams and connector diagrams?
If anyone could explain to me any troubles I might face and also what it takes to overcome those problems that would be great. If it isn't gonna work and my mechanic and I are gonna have trouble doing the swap I'd like to know before I go by a donor thats useless. And im actually going to look...
The price is only 1800 and the mechanic Im having help me ( who is very experienced with engine swaps and custom engine work) quoted me with an install of $500-$1000. Thats basically all i have as im a college student. The other factor is if it'll work, I've already got 1grand in new suspension...
So here is the dilemma I'm in. I currently own a 98 4.0 SOHC with AWD/4x4. I recently discovered the engine is going bad and it just so happens I know someone selling a 96 with the 5.0 v8, but its 2wd. I plan on swapping the v8 and tranny out of the 96 into my 98. I know that in doing this i...
I am thinking about doing a similar thing but with a 5.0. Right now I have a 98 4.0 AWD in need of a new engine. Im getting a 96 5.0 2wd and Im going to swap out the V8 and the tranny. Im basically going from AWD/4x4 to 2wd. Like I said my current vehicle is AWD/4x4, but after the swap I will be...
I am thinking about doing a similar thing as TexasRyan but in a 2nd gen. Right now I have a 98 4.0 AWD in need of a new engine. Im getting a 96 5.0 2wd and Im going to swap out the V8 and the tranny. Im basically going from AWD/4x4 to 2wd. Like I said my current vehicle is AWD/4x4, but after the...
Yes. I have AWD but after the swap from the v8 and obviously the tranny, I will essentially be 2wd and want to add a transfer case, the 4406 looks promising, Id just like some more info on what exactly I need and needs tobe done
So if I wanted to convert back to 4x4 (after it goes 2wd from a v8 swap from a 2wd donor). I could find a 4406 and a front DS from a 5.4 f-150 and it should work? I noticed all the talk about the angles which leaves me kinda confused
Alright so Im looking into the 4406 now that i will forgo my 4x4 with the v8 swap from a 2wd V8. What exactly do I need to do this. As is after the swap I will essentially be 2wd. I can find a bunch of posts by people who have done it and are showing their final results but I cant find a how to.
Im in the process of probably converting my 98 SOHC AWD/4WD to a V8 with an engine and tranny from a 96. My only question is if i can use the Transfer case from my V6 after swapping out the entire drive train from the 96?
I am in the process of looking into swapping the engine in my 98 SOHC out from a possible donor vehcile that is a 96 V8. My current explorer is AWD as well as 4WD and the donor vehicles is only 2wd. Is the transfer case interchangeable with the V8 tranny?
I was looking at making my own bumper and had one in mind based off of this thread. I was just curious as to who made this bumper.

Nice ex Evil, I'm looking at doing pretty much the same setup and I was wondering what your tire measurements were in the x/x/x configuration (such as 285/60/16)
