when i owned my kenwood KVT unit, i had a single green wire that i was supposed to run to the parking brake. i got to thinking...and i thought to myself well...the parking brake just sends a signal to the unit sayin it's in park, right? so i decided to run that green wire to a spot on my fuse...

yeah matt is the one i've dealt with from mechman. very nice guy. and unless i have dual alts, i dont think i'd ever run a 300+ amp alt alone just cuz of that...the lack of idle output. unless it somehow could supplement enough for the basics at idle i'm not sure of all the different feedbacks...

interesting...except i dont agree with #6 6. Just add a second battery: NO! NO! This is the worst thing you can do unless you are running dual alternators. The only thing a second battery will do is allow you to play the stereo longer with the key off. Otherwise it will make your situation...

remote is what flips the little relay in the amp to allow the power wire to connect and power the amp on. without it the amp will not turn on

yes indeed. why skimp on such an important part? those should be done regardless. then onto more pressing issues...like alternator power. it doesnt necessarily HAVE to be high output, but an upgrade in amperage is a good idea. also depends on how big the stock alt is and how big of a load it...

hifonics arent bad amps per say. good budget amps. their XXV line is where they really start to shine tho. not to bash, but what's more hurtful to see is the prefab box :( even if it is made for kicker subs. not hating tho.

you can add batteries to help supply it. anything over 1000 watts i'd look into alternator upgrades. if you're needing to replace an alternator now, i'd go ahead and get the biggest you can. mine went out today too. drove home on battery reserve :( gotta get a replacement till i get my high...
