I changed the fuel filter and my mechanic said 36psi was perfect... whats it supposed to be?

fuel pressure was right around 36psi and was constant, but when you go to turn the key on the fuel pump does not kick in right away and you have to turn it over stop and do it a second time to get it to start...

I didnt get to check the how it ran with the maf sensor unhooked yet I will tommorow and I will see if I can get a hold of a fuel pressure tester to, as for the cracked pvc pipe fitting I already checked for that and it must be a newer motor than mine because I dont have that line.. mines got...

yes, the codes were present before the gaskets were replaced, and yes all hoses and tubes seem to be fine, I haven't detected any leaks anywhere, I have replaced everything listed above trying to correct these codes, I will try disconnecting the maf sensor tomorrow and see how it runs... thanks...

also it starts hard in the cold thats why I replaced the upper and lower intake mani gaskets... but still throws the colds even on warm days...

ok so here we go, I have the lean codes bank 1 and 2 p0171 and p0174, I have replaced the fowling the idle control sensor, upper and lower mani gaskets, new thermostat housing(it was leaking)...I have cleaned the maf sensor checked for vacuum leaks and I'm out of ideas and money... what else...

when you start the engine for the first time it shacks and stutters and on really cold days its worse, but even on a warm day or with a warm engine you can reset the codes and they will still be thrown after a little driving...

nope my 01 explorer sport doesn't have that elbow, o well worth a shot.. so mani gaskets, maf sensor, idle control sensors, and system checked for vacuum leaks, all have been checked or replaced, so were to next?

hey swshawaii, were is this elbow you are talking about? I took a look today and didn't see any elbow below the throttle body... any pointers? thanks

ok so I can reset my computer with my scan tool and even on a warm day it will start ok and drive fine but even with 20+ miles on a warm engine it will still throw the lean codes, so I dont think its a leaking gasket issue, so I'm stumped I haven't detected any leaks anywhere... anyone else have...

yep and i had that one replaced.. does anyone think it might be anything other than the lower intake mani gasket, like I said my mechanic said it wasn't leaking...

yea I had it in the shop to get the thermostat housing replaced and the upper and lower intake gaskets replaced, the mechanic told me the lower one was not leaking and just replaced the upper gasket...

anybody have any ideas? before I take it to the shop... would a badly leaking lower manifold gasket cause the engine temp to fluctuate that much? like I said it looks like the coolant is only coming from the passenger side of the engine and I didn't see any obvious signs of coolant in the oil...
