Do you think 1st Gens will become classics?

I'd love to see these become official classics. Sure, X's give us problems, but what classic doesn't? I'd love to go to a classic car show with my 67 Mustang sitting next to my 94 XLT. Who knows, the SUV class could be coming. It's up to the X's to take that category by storm!

here is my 94' Explorer XLT 4x4

If you want a trailer hitch, Pep Boys can install one for around $250 for the whole package (at least that was my quote). A ball hitch isn't bad, but you can't pull as much. First gen engines pull well, but you might have to invest in a way to cool your tranny if you're pulling a lot for a long...

    Ready for clear headlights?

This is so technical... Photons, bulb alignment properties, reflectivity angles... I'll keep reading until somebody tells me to buy "blank" part number from "blank".com I must complement your Explorer for looking really good with those headlights. I have a brush guard on the front of mine and...

    91 Explorer problem

Brandon, Hate to say it, but I'm inclined to agree with the others it sounds like your transmission has gone to a better place. The fact the clutch is grabbing and operating relatively normally suggests it appears to be at least okay. The black oil/sludge/fluid is a bad sign of gears...

    Fuel line help

Manufacturing your own lines might be the ideal way to go. I make all my own in my garage. A few tips about hoses and tubes from my experience as an aircraft hydraulic technician: Correct Size. Not having the same diameter can impact flow and pressure. Size is measured in 16ths. For example...

    Ziebart problems

Factory system to the best of my knowledge. I've asked a few mechanics around and they are clueless still. I'll talk to some of the people in the radar and radio around the base and see what frequencies they run and see if my alarm system is close.

    Ziebart problems

So this is a strange/unique problem I've had ever since I bought my Explorer in 2005: I go to a military base's gas station to fill it up and my alarm buttons no longer work, I can't turn off the alarm, resulting in the X not moving. I was stuck at a gas station for nearly an hour today pulling...

    suspension upgrade?

So far so good. I've dug up a few parts so far. The Auxiliary Trans Cooler was about $288, Hide-A-Hitch (or equivalent) is shy of $200, and the Add-A-Leaf kit varied from $35 to $160+ on Summit Racing. This would more than likely require a redo of the back suspension, so I can have all brand...

    suspension upgrade?

I love driving manuals, so the swap is very appealing. Knowing what I now need for this operation, I'll have to start pricing it. Looks like I got some homework to do! @mr_cribb - I grew up in Chandler, right off I-44 about an hour from Tulsa. You probably drove by it a few times :) Is...

    suspension upgrade?

When I redid my suspension in late 2007, I replaced everything but the leaf springs. They are laying against each other but there is still a little daylight to be seen between them. My rear shackles were in bad shape, I remember most if it being in bad shape when I bought it in 2004. I'll look...

    suspension upgrade?

First off, wow, it's great to be back in America :us: with my Explorer again. Just got back from a 3 year tour in Italy, leaving my baby at my dad's place in Oklahoma. Must say, my X handled the Washington to Oklahoma drive quite well. Immediately after getting back, it went from Oklahoma to...

    Explorers in Europe

Hey everybody, I just got to my duty station here on the island of Sicily and it's pretty sweet over here. I missed the discussions and all the good info / advice but I'm back online again, all the way from Italy, with another question. :D First off, I would like to say the license plates for...

    2008 NWE gathering

I'll be staying the night. I'll probably be bringing food for me and my g/f, but if we wanted to have a potluck or something that would work too. I'll be bringing a case of beer to share with everybody, just as long as nobody drives after indulging in tasty libations :D

    2008 NWE gathering

I have a question or a suggestion or however you wanna look at it. I was going to bring in a case of Bud Light to enjoy at the end of the day and being a nice guy, I am open to sharing the wealth. I was wondering if anything like that was going to happen or if this is going to be an alcohol-free...

    2008 NWE gathering

I've been told similar things before, since I rolled a Dodge Neon on a flat dirt road trying to see how long I could keep it sideways. Being from Oklahoma originally, there really wasn't much else to do...

    2008 NWE gathering

I'll be camping, but I'll be sleeping inside the X. Lay down the seats, hop in the ol sleeping bag, and snore away. I just hope I have an X to sleep in and it's not  More leg room upside down though.:D

    2008 NWE gathering

Wow, stock-friendly trails? Man, if I had any doubts, they just got erased. I haven't had the opportunity to hit trails since I sold my 78 F-250 years ago. I miss that stuff. I'm so excited for this meet, I might drag my g/f along.

    2008 NWE gathering

I'm mostly stock, just got a little bit here and there. I'm about to get a new exhaust system and am looking around for intakes and such, i.e. throttle bodies and spacers. Plus I'm ordering a grill guard right now. I got a good sound system in it though.

    2008 NWE gathering

yeah, that would benefit me, unless I took the ferries to Pt. Townsend. I don't trust those things, so I will be taking the 5. If Diff Whack Daddy doesn't mind, I'll meet up somewhere and maybe meet up with yall too.

    2008 NWE gathering

This is really sounding like it's gonna be a sweet trip. I need to buff up my X a bit more with the tax return so I won't feel like I don't do anything when I see all these other Explorers.

    2008 NWE gathering

Another guy in our neck of the woods is from Bremerton, if I remember correctly, his name is SpdRacer or something close. He's got a first gen and has done some work to it and it's a sharp ride.

    2008 NWE gathering

March 1st sounds great as long as I don't have duty. If I can meet up with Kevin aka Diff Whack Daddy somewhere, that would make life a lot better, like Best Buy up there. I'll just look for an Explorer...lol. What kinda X you got Kevin aka Diff Whack Daddy? whichever you prefer to be called?

    2008 NWE gathering

I saw this and had to jump in... March 1st, huh? Man that sounds like fun. It's a trip from Oak Harbor, but the chance to hang out with people as thrilled about Explorers as I am is definitely worth the drive. I'll have to get directions and whatnot since I'm in the Navy and don't know the...
