91 feels like I have stone tires.

Thanks for the input guys & where would I be without Vanquish to clear things up like that, wow. The springs don't bottom out but I was curious if anyone replaced em & noticed a major diff. The Bilsteins are only 3 months old but with em the truck handles like sports car. But keeping my...

91 feels like I have stone tires.

What do you think is more responsible for dulling a bump or pot-hole, Springs or shocks? my 91 takes any road inperfection (pot hole, uneven pavement, etc) and it feels like I have stone tires instead of rubber. I've gotten out a few times to make sure I didn't blow out my tire or crack my...

    Clutch pedal very hard

Nikola - Most "clutch kits" don't include the slave cyl. only the throw out bearing, not sure if you meant that you changed the throw out bearing. But in my case I did the clutch kit with new throw out bearing and later the hard clutch turned out to be the slave cylinder. But yes it is...

    Clutch pedal very hard

Got a '91 Navajo with the same 5spd. manual. I had a new cluch kit put in almost 2yrs ago and all was fine & dandy, but one day I noticed the pedal required more pressure than normal.. Long story short it was the Slave Cylinder. From now on whenever I do a clutch job I'm also putting in a new...

    Lear & Coil springs here...

I went with the simulated burl wood, they have real wood as well but I was concerned about cleaning products & flexibility. Check em out at: http://www.sherwooddashes.com/ It took me maybe 20-30mins to install everything. Just a word of caution: they tell you to use rubbing alcohol on your...

    Lear & Coil springs here...

errr thanks I guess. I bought new leafs because I needed new leafs not because I wanted a lift. With a 15yr old truck & 15 yr. old leaf springs it made sense (to me anyway) to get brand new parts instead of throwing shackles or add a leafs over old worn out, rusty leafs with 300,000 miles...

    Reasonable estimate for front-end work???

I had the same clunk with sharp turns of my wheel in reverse, it was the radius arm bushings for sure. $27ea. (parts only) at pep boy's fixed the issue.

Where to get new radius arms?

I got mine at pep boy's with poly bushings, great price. Think it was around $27ea. 4 months ago.

    Lear & Coil springs here...

Leaf & Coil springs here... Noticed some guy's looking for leaf springs, just an FYI . I have a '91 Navajo & had custom leafs made 1" over stock for only $270 delivered to my door. The company said they will go 1" to 2" over stock for the same price. The site doesn't list leafs, just call to...

Finding a leaf spring / shock mount

I've got a '91 Nav. and had custom leaf springs made 1 inch over stock to make it sit better than the stock ones which tend to sag the rear end. Go to http://www.espo.com/ It doesn't list leaf springs on the site, but I just called and they said they still sell them 1 to 2" over stock is only...

91 Nav. upper noise passanger side

I didn't think the MAF could make a metallic knock & why would a thicker oil lessen it? I was thinking more along the lines of lifters, anyone have anything????

    Plans in the making...

'91 improvements Well what I did was take off the body side molding (huge improvement) and told the paint shop to repaint the side sills (normally flat black) had em paint the same as the body. Also a Sherwood dash kit made the interior alot nicer. Got rear leaf springs made 1 1/2" over stock...

91 Nav. upper noise passanger side

'91 Navajo with roughly 120K on this engine and 20K on trans & clutch. OK here's whats happening. Been noticing when I go up a hill or step on gas I hear an upper engine noise coming from the passanger side, kinda like a knock or trrrrrrrrrrr that disappears when I'm on level ground or when...

    Tilt Steering Stuck

this happened on my 91 and it turned out to be I was missing the mounting screw for the plastic trim that goes around the bottom half of the steering colum. So when the wheel was tilted up in the highest position & then I tried to lower it, it would appear jammed and stuck up. Try pushing the...

    '91 Navajo died last night...

Turned out to be a bad Fuel pump relay. I wasn't getting any fuel out of the tank to the filter so I just bought the relay and turned out a good guess. $17 at Pep boys..

    '91 Navajo died last night...

Sorry, by "has gas" I meant the tank is full, I figured I'd add that before someone posted asking if I checked to see if I ran out of gas. Like I said, it was really late last night by the time I got the truck towed home & was beat from sunburn and didn't have time nor energy to do anything...

    '91 Navajo died last night...

'91 Navajo 5pd, engine & trans have maybe 35k on em. Truck runs/ran great. Must have put 500 miles on it this weekend between PA & the Shore. Last night driving home from the NJ shore was doing about 75 when it sputtered & died for maybe 2-seconds then came back to life. Maybe 10 mins later...
