    96 Explorer ABS Problem

Budwich: I understand that but this is what i found. Ohm testing when rotated caused open loop then a reading of 0.387-0.473 Kilo-Ohms ( would go back and forth). With both sensors working like this there were no problems. With a sensor not going to open loop and just giving two different ohm...

    96 Explorer ABS Problem

I also got the ford service data on disk and found that diagram in there. Wires tested good last night but thank you for posting that for people in the future. Update: So I tested the hubs last night and found that it was the right front FPD hub that was bad from the factory. Found that on...

    2003 Mercury Mountaineer. ABS problem.

Sorry I know i'm bringing up a thread over a year old but to anyone that comes across this thread I am haveing the exact same problem. The duralast hub/sensor only lasted 5 miles worth of driving. Going to go take it off at warrenty it at autozone. I also before this installed a set of FPD hubs...

    96 Explorer ABS Problem

Thank you so much!!! Can't measure the air gap however, in the 96 awd the tone ring is sealed inside the hub assembly. Going to test tomorrow again to see what side is bad, replace both hubs with autozone duralast hubs and then save what ever hubs are good for spares and junk the rest. No more...

    96 Explorer ABS Problem

The problem is for sure in the wheel speed sensors in the front as seen from the data in my last post. There was to different reading on the new sensors. One side had two different ohm reading when rotated (0.430-0.445ohms) and the other had an ohm reading and then an open loop when rotated...

    96 Explorer ABS Problem

No one knows how to ohm check the front hubs and what they should be reading??????

    96 Explorer ABS Problem

Next new update: I started by ohm checking the old hubs that I still had. One hub was around 0.395 and went up to 0.410 when rotated. The other started at 0.410 and then went open loop when rotated ( This is the one I figured was bad and caused the original problem). Next I went to the new hubs...

    96 Explorer ABS Problem

Does anyone know what the correct ohm readings should be for the front hubs on 96 explorer AWD? Also I think i heard somewhere on hear about an AC voltage test on these hubs. Think they generate an alternating AC current when spun, can't remember though? Update: (for those having the same...

Also have you checked the wiring?

    Window Problems

If the motor, gear, and regulator are all good and not binding then I would try putting some silicone lube on the window track were the window slides and some white lithium grease on the inside where the regulator pivots and on the motor gear. Check any plastic gears for the motor very...

    lost transmission fluid

If it came out that fast seems like you could have someone dump some in while you watch to see where it is coming from. The 5.0 liter's tranny takes like 15 qt (5 qt just for the pan) to fill entire system and i know its not cheap so hopefully you didn't loose it all.

    Daytime Running Lights

Hmmm I have a 96 so no drl for me but autozone.com does have the wiring diagram: http://www.autozone.com/autozone/repairinfo/repairguide/repairGuideContent.jsp?pageId=0996b43f802c54bb Figure #39 shows your lights Can't see DRL lamps in there ( only fog lights) but it looks like if you splice...

    ABS Problem

Sorry had to read your post again, your light is not on just like mine. I have a scanner that does obdII, srs, and abs. A scan with that will also reveal no stored codes. There is a TSB from Ford about this that does talk about when the pump kicks in seeing wich way the wheel pulls to and the...

    ABS Problem

I am having the exact same problem. Have yet to find out why. Do you also have no abs light on (no stored abs codes)? Check my post out to see all that I have replaced with no luck. http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?p=2917999#post2917999

    No Fire

So these plugs have no spark? Have you checked for that yet? Just looked at the wiring diagram and it looks like pcm direct to coil. So check wiring from pcm, maybe try a new coil or a known good one(not sure if the one you swapped was), and if that don't work looks like it could be a bad pcm...

99 Ford Explorer Transmission Stopped working

Don't have much help for the 5r55e but have rebuilt a few 4l60e's and 700r's. The stator is inside the torque convertor. You still have to have a pump. I would drop the pan and look to see if it's time for a rebuild. If it was me and I was going for the pump to rebuild, might as well do the...

98 EB 5L oil/trans oil leaking, what to do?

From the picture it looks like you are looking at the tranny bell housing and that looks like the inspection cover. If the fluid is coming from there your tranny pump or you input shaft oil seal is leaking. I would not suggest putting any stop leak in anything that has small valves and screens...

    96 Explorer ABS Problem

I swapped the pump/control module but still have the same problem. I looked into the throttle position sensor (tps) test but the info in the link is not the same for the 96. My sensor does not look like that and the wire color codes are not the same. Hooked up my scanner though and under live...

    Clunking sound from under hood.

Sounds like this could be your problem: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=161590 I also have a a little bit of noise on start up but it is coming from the top idler pulley. About a $14 autozone part. Was able to tell using a mechanic stethescope (?spl), cheap tool to have...

    96 Explorer ABS Problem

Just ordered a used pump/control module for $30 on ebay. Beets autozone's price of almost $1154.99. Guess I will see when it gets here. If there is anything that I can check in the mean time than please let me know.

    96 Explorer ABS Problem

Ok this is my first post here so be gentle. I have a 96 explorer xlt 5.0 awd. I just got the vehicle used and the problem was there when i got it but the price was awesome for the miles it had. When ever i come to a slow stop the abs kicks in. Even on dry pavement. Sometimes when driving at very...
