    Fuel pressure test

Thanks guys. I'll remove relay, connect gauge, plug relay, turn key on for three seconds and then turn off, watch gauge stabilize in the 40-65 range as per workshop manual. Then turn it on again and do a leak down test. It's my first time so i'll play it safe.

When i remove the relay, then connect my fuel pressure gauge to the test port on fuel rail, I would put the relay back on so I read pressure KOEO mode?

    Fuel pressure test

In the Mountaineer/Explorer 99 workshop manual it states that in order to relieve the fuel pressure the electrical connector to the inertia fuel switch must be pulled to disable the fuel pump. To get to this IFS you have to pull away the carpet and door trim to get to it on the passenger side...

    New PCV valve

99 mountaineer 5.0. I wonder if the rubber that came apart to pieces was the grommet. it was about an 1 1/4" long and thick as well. Here is a video i saw and at the 41 second mark you'll see this same exact rubber i'm talking about. Is it a grommet? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aTDl5DGJef8

    New PCV valve

When you put back the valve is it supposed to snap in or just rest there in the hole in the grommet? I remember removing it didn't take much effort at all. Also there is a foam wrapped around the hose just above the valve. It crumble to pieces. What is that supposed to do? Thanks.

    Pressurize cooling system

I think it's coming from the water pump area but it's new with a new gasket. Not for sure though. I know I tightened the clamp on the hose at water pump side (lower rad hose).

    Pressurize cooling system

I did the test on the cold engine. If a shop mechanic went by what the repair manual said at the two minute mark with no pressure lost he would have disconnected the tester and called it a day. I did had a leak before and it was the timing cover gasket that was shot. Replaced gasket and new...

    Pressurize cooling system

In the Explorer/Mountaineer workshop manual it states as a caution: do not pressurize the cooling system beyond 102 kPa (14.9 psi) and pump the cooling system to a maximum of 102 kPa (14.9 psi) and hold for two minutes. If the pressure drops within this time, inspect for leaks ad repair as...

A Click Noise when pressing gas pedal

After finishing putting in new timing cover gasket, water pump and everything else after that, I noticed when I pulled out of my driveway I had to press down on the gas pedal a little harder than usual to get the truck moving again. As I'm driving this is what I noticed: 1) When letting go of...

Water pump pulley won't come out

So if I'm going to whack it with a rubber mallet you suggest I take the water pump off the block or leave it on?

Water pump pulley won't come out

Is the pulley pressed in originally or is just the rust?

Water pump pulley won't come out

I have a 99 Merc Mount 5.0. The water pump pulley doesn't come off the pump. I'm replacing a new pump. I searched on the websites but not even ford Parts don't sell them anymore. Can I use a Bolt-Type Wheel Puller Set that can remove a harmonic balancer on the stubborn water pump pulley. What...

    Changing Timing Chain Cover Gasket

Hello folks. I intend to change my timing chain cover gasket on my 99 Mountaineer 5.0 due to a coolant leak. I did some research on my Haynes manual, Youtube and Alldatadyi website. In all this there is no mention of a mounting bracket (I believe this is what is called) that attaches the idler...

    Tachometer connection

I have a dwell/tachometer/volt meter. The manual that came with it is so vague as far as the instructions goes. Does anyone know where to connect a tachometer to the 99 Mountaineer engine so that I can watch the RPMs? It has two leads to make connections. Thanks.

    Where is the Starter Relay

I recently bought a remote switch from Actron to crank the engine. The instructions says to locate the starter relay to connect the remote switch. So I open up my Haynes book (I own 99 Mountaineer) and there is a picture that shows the starter relay mounted on the fenderwall between the battery...

    Drive Cycle

I have all my I/M monitors up and running again...solid icons and no DTC or ABS codes. To get my EVA monitor to complete its test and P1000 code to disappear, the drive cycle consisted of: 1. Connecting your scanner 2. Cold engine start 3. IAT PID between 50-100 degrees 4. Gas in tank...

I changed my fuel filter two weeks ago for the first time. Using the disconnect tool I had troubled taking the lines off. Drive Cycle

Hello folks. I own a 99 Mountaineer and several weeks ago I bought a car scanner tool. Before I decided to disconnect the battery so that I can clean the posts for a clean connection, I scanned the computer, no DTC codes and all readiness monitors were solid icons. I knew that the PCM will have...
