How good is the AC system on a generation 3

Its probably never been replaced and it can make a difference to how efficient the AC works. It is a serviceable item like a filter probably not a bad idea to replace every 6 years. I replaced it on a 1995 Audi A6 and recharged using one of the aerosol cans from the states i also replaced the...

    2002 Explorer Temp Gauge Misbehaving

Tick Over it means idling. Drain the coolant out the radiator its really easy on the Explorer probably one of the easiest vehicles to do it on because you have a lot of room and you can get different size containers underneath. Replace the thermostat top off with new coolant.

98 explorer, weird cranking problem broke my starter!

Well you got a new starter now so thats good. I would check your battery cables even perhaps adding a new ground cable to the motor. I added one from the - neg terminal and to the AC bracket and it made a difference to cold crank. The cables are getting old on your truck new ones will help i...

    2002 Explorer Temp Gauge Misbehaving

How long have you had the truck ? When was thermostat housing replaced last because they are known to leak from time to time? And they come new with a thermostat. To change only the thermostat is very easy on the V6. Did it over heat when you gave it some gas? Does it tend to be fine on Tick Over?

Interesting write up never heard of the black goo here in Europe. When your AC was working did you clean the radiator and did your fan work well and did the AC lines become frosty and drip underneath?
