Coolant temperature question that has come up with efan (2nd) change

Tom - the guy that was hand building alternators for EF members years ago just built one for me. Based off of everyone’s past experiences- I’m thinking I’ll have great luck with it..

Coolant temperature question that has come up with efan (2nd) change

I didn’t make any changes when switching from one to another. Was running it on stock 130 amp/stock wire setup. Now upgrading to 240amp/big 3 due to w2a intercooler and other fun stuff

Coolant temperature question that has come up with efan (2nd) change

Don, think you are making the right choice with the Flex-A-Lite - its worked well so far for me. Looking forward to you finally getting around (and reading about it) to you doing all of these things which you have had planned.

Coolant temperature question that has come up with efan (2nd) change

That looks nice. We did not go quite as far when trying the Contour Setup. The poor balance on the aftermarket Contour units that were tried created a vibration in the whole chassis (very slight but noticeable) that could never be resolved. The Flex-A-Lite 180 has since worked without any...

Coolant temperature question that has come up with efan (2nd) change

I do not recommend the Contour Fan. I tried it and had nothing but vibration problems which could not be resolved. I used a new production third party version of this fan and not an OEM one that I took from a junker - so not sure if that would make a difference. But the parts store new ones I...

Timing Cover - water pump replacement

So while doing some upgrades on Big White (5.0 V8), I am replacing the waterpump (found a brand new OEM Ford Unit) and have the timing cover off. Anything else I should be doing while I have it torn down to this level? Thanks

Powerdyne BD-11a versus Powerdyne XB-1A dyno numbers - need some input

It does seem to have helped some. Right now in the middle of building a new crank pulley (going larger), new waterpump pulley and possibly moving all for the supercharger to an 8-rib setup. Its a tight fit. Also moving to a true 200 amp alternator.

Powerdyne BD-11a versus Powerdyne XB-1A dyno numbers - need some input

So the original Ford OEM Waterpump decided to make these interesting noises and realized it was time to replace it while increasing the crank pulley size, ribs and changing to a different waterpump pulley size (to make it all fit) for the Powerdyne XB-1A Gear Driven Supercharger that is...

Powerdyne BD-11a versus Powerdyne XB-1A dyno numbers - need some input

Finally have the Powerdyne XB-1a on my 2000 Explorer initially dialed in. Here is a quick comparison short of my initial 0-60 pulls versus those with the BD-11a with the same pulleys. Dyno sheets for current setup are coming soon….

Powerdyne BD-11a versus Powerdyne XB-1A dyno numbers - need some input

More info from the Powerdyne builder on the high speed bearing issue “ “ “ I really have no idea what it was, or where it can from, but so small it fell out when I popped it apart, and lost it, I figure it was causing the balls to ‘skate’ along, causing the sound, without damaging the race… “

Powerdyne BD-11a versus Powerdyne XB-1A dyno numbers - need some input

We had another dyno session with Big White Ford Explorer and the XB-1a on November 30th. We did a few dyno pulls again with the 2.7" pulley and improved standoff pulley on the bottom side of the SC belt. You can see the last pull as runfile 2 in the sheet above. This time we were datalogging...

Powerdyne BD-11a versus Powerdyne XB-1A dyno numbers - need some input

So do you think there is something going on at 3,000 rpm. Here is the 3000 RPM dyno sheet. Look at the differences in torque of the runs and the AFR as well. Anybody can explain what I am seeing here? But what I understand from the smoothing 2 dyno sheet in my last post, there doesn't appear...

Powerdyne BD-11a versus Powerdyne XB-1A dyno numbers - need some input

At corral it was suggested to post the dyno sheet with smoothing 2. Said it would show any belt slip. Anybody see this?

Powerdyne BD-11a versus Powerdyne XB-1A dyno numbers - need some input

M-9593-G302 Fuel Injector Flow Rate: 47 lbs/Hr @ 39.15 psi Type: EV14 (USCAR Connector) Impedance: 11-18 ohms Original equipment on 2007-10 SVT GT500 According to the tuner I had a lot of injector and I would be good for awhile.

Powerdyne BD-11a versus Powerdyne XB-1A dyno numbers - need some input

I really need to find a solution for the waterpump pulley. It is the only thing keeping me from getting a bigger crank pulley. As far as injectors, I am running GT500 injectors and the tuner said I have more than enough for anything that I will do on this engine. I asked again about the...

Powerdyne BD-11a versus Powerdyne XB-1A dyno numbers - need some input

Can you explain about tuning the 4R70W? I have a stock converter but did have some work to beef it up a bit and shift nicer when I did the rebuild last year
