    03 lincoln aviator

I'm not sure if they use the same pan, I'll have to check that out. That price has me kinda backing off on getting one now. LOL I'll go peruse the site & see if I can spot the thread.

    2010 Escape, Rear liftgate won't open ?

This also happens on my GF's '06 Expedition. I went to the dealer & asked if they had a thicker molding for the Expy & was told they don't, so I bought a new stock molding. Guess what, it still leaks, just not quite as bad. Maybe I will ask for thicker molding at a different dealer. It also...

Thanks for posting your air box pic, that makes more sense to me now. Also, if you do find a trans pan with a dipstick, I'm interested in one too. Having no dipstick is just dumb, IMO. I hate never being able to check my fluid level, nor the condition of the fluid without crawling...

    Serpentine Belt Break AGAIN

That's really strange that it would break clean like that.

Rear Gear Oil Question(s) 2002 EB

    I wouldn't mix them, I would drain & refill.

    Serpentine Belt Break AGAIN

I agree, you need to properly diagnose the AC system. I'm just guessing here, but it sounds like either the bearing in the AC clutch is frozen, or the compressor itself is seized. With the belt off, you should easily be able to find the culprit by spinning pulleys.

Is this just removing the silencer cone from the inlet, or something else? Congrats on getting it back together & on the way to a smoke free ride.:chug:

    03 lincoln aviator

Good tip, I hope I never have to use it! LOL Sounds like you're probably good to go on the bolts, then.

    Back Bearings - Really?

I definitely gave mine the "good sex" treatment, too. LOL Lincolnshibuya, thanks for that link, I think I'm gonna have to get one of those. It's reasonably priced, too!

    03 lincoln aviator

Bummer about the rod bolts, I hope you'll be okay reusing them. Just don't do any 9-grand launches at the drag strip.:burnout::laugh: I hear ya about the bolts P/S pump, that fourth bolt is a complete PITA! I think three would be plenty to hold that thing on, and I was very close to just...

    Back Bearings - Really?

This is true. If you don't brace the inner race of the back half of the bearing as you're pressing the hub in, it will ruin the new bearing. I'm glad I'm not the only one who had to hammer the piss out of those joints to get them apart. The center one I never did get apart & said screw...

    03 lincoln aviator

Yeah, I would expect it to smoke for a bit, not only for new rings, but to bake the rest of the oil outta the exhaust system. Also, I like your upper & lower grilles, I've been pondering getting those for mine. This is mine, BTW. And yes, my previous owner did take good care of it...

    03 lincoln aviator

I just found your thread today, I can't believe how many times you've had to open up this engine! LOL Doing the rings is good, I bet this time you'll have it whipped. I forget how many miles you said this thing has, but I can't believe how clean those pistons turned out! I have an '03 too, and...

    Back Bearings - Really?

That's the problem, I don't think the whole damn thing is available...or not that I could find anyway. When I did mine, I bought a bearing & hub set and pressed the bearing back into the knuckle. And getting those joints apart was a real PITA, for me at least.

    The everything Aviator thread.

FreeIndeed, thanks for the excellent tutorial on replacing the flasher relay...what a PITA! I'm glad you were able to have your seat warmer module reprogrammed. I had no idea they could "forget" their program, very interesting. We have an '06 Expedition that has the passenger seat...

That is the upper ball joint. It looks like you can replace the joint itself (press fit); http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=2471904&cc=1440615&jnid=434&jpid=16 Or replace the upper control arm as an assembly...

The future for my 2002 Explorer Sport

Looks great! It's a good feeling to have brand new parts on your vehicle. Nice deal on your tools, too! Now head to an alignment shop soon. :)

That may very well be the issue that FreeIndeed is experiencing. Here is a great tutorial for burping the cooling system on the 4.6 DOHC engines... http://reischeperformance.com/refill.html

    Shutting other peoples lights off

I shut someone's lights off juat last Saturday. We were moving my daughter out of her apartment, and I noticed a 85-ish F150 about halfway across the parking lot & it's lights were gradually getting dimmer. So I decided that if it was unlocked, I would turn them off...and it was, so I did. :)...

    Things to Watch on TV

I agree, that's a good show. I have only seen the first two seasons. I kinda got sidetracked on other stuff, so I need to get current again.:) You may also like "Justified" with Timothy Olyphant.

    Things to Watch on TV

My current favorite is Blue Bloods. Excellent show! I have purchased all the season sets & am about halfway through season four. It's gonna suck when I reach the last episode, because I'll have to wait for season five to come out! LOL Spartacus was fun, even though it only went for a little...

Who else is frustrated by this control arm bushing fiasco on Aviators?

This is the first I've heard of this issue...that sucks! I will have to look at mine this weekend, when I give it an oil change. Keeping my fingers crossed that they still look good!

    The everything Aviator thread.

It may be a small vacuum leak. If you look at page 8 in this thread, post #159 , there's a good tutorial regarding the PCV hose replacement. That's one vacuum leak possibility. Welcome to the forum!:)

Congrats on your newly acquired Aviator! :) I imagine that the CD changer will need to be removed, and I have no idea if it's a direct swap with an LS unit. I have an '03, and mine is only set up with auto headlights. If the fuse box is marked with "DRL", I think it may be also used on...
